Retrofit Bluetooth 2004 X5
 

Hi all, hope I can get some info on my question. I have a European spec 2004 X5 with a factory fit 6CD changer(does not work anymoe), Navigation system (again not working properly anymore) and front display with a cassette tape behind the display. I am looking to retro fit bluetooth in the system so I can pipe my music and navigation from my phone into the stereo system (hopefully easily) or if not this then adding an AUX port to the system. Does anyone know of a device that will allow me to do this and where I can buy it? Most threads on here are for integrating an iPhone to the system, I am looking to integrate my Galaxy S3. Kinda late, I know... I am looking to do the same thing. The cheapest way is to setup an AUX input (you can buy the cable online or make it yourself) and then get a bluetooth adapter that will connect to AUX and accept A2DP music from your phone. I am still searching for a buletooth adapter that also has a mic input, so I can use it both form music and phone calls. There is a Belkin AirCast for example, it's just that the mic is embedded into the unit. Still searching...

Thanks for the reply, I have just decided to go with a cassette adapter for the moment and it is working perfectly and I can use the phone hands free. Would be great if someone made a cassette Bluetooth adapter that charged itself when the spindles were turning then I would buy one of them but the one I have now is the typical plug into the headphone jack, but it works. :thumbup:

Well, if you change your mind and want better quality, here is how to make the cable - I just picked up the components from Fry's yesterday. (attachement), I will use an old RCA audio cable and solder it to a connector for the back of the radio and to an AUX connector I plan to place in the ashtray. I also ordered the Belkin AirCast w Bluetooth and will connect it to AUX and place the button somewhere on center console.

I have a 03 X5. Will the cable work on a BMW cassette radio ? Had anybody tried ? How well does the Belkin product work ?
