E53 DSP Subwoofer Ohm 8/8?

Finally got the double din Kenwood HU installed. That sends signal to a Kenwood XR-5S amp. Audio Pipe 303 passive crossovers send signal to all ten speakers. Sounds good. Now I'm on to the Sub.

I have the two little subs in the passenger side compartment. On the outside of the box there is a sticker that says (8/8 with the ohm symbol.) Does that mean that each speaker is 8ohms?

Any help is appreciated.

Here's what the sticker on the speaker says...

Thoughts on speaker specs? Two 8ohm speakers?

u can check with a multi-meter
its better to run an aftermarket amp and a custom box in that compartment like one offered by bavarian soundwerks

Please tell me how I can check the impedance of a speaker with a basic multi-meter.

I asked the guys at BSW if they knew and they confirmed that the factory DSP speakers are 2ohm and the subwoofer is 8ohm. I'm assuming that they are individual 8ohm speakers.

Would a replacement sub be better? You're probably right. Have you seen what they charge for their boxes? I'm going to make due with the speakers I have for the time being.

Total invested:
Kenwood HU: $259
Kenwood 5-chan amp: $288
3-way crossover: $50
HU install kit: $20
Wire and connectors: $10
Total $627

Added Bluetooth connectivity for Android device, USB input, 1/8 jack, retained factory appearance. Happy wife...

Turn the dial to Ohms and place the probes on the pos and neg leads. Keep in mind that it would probably work out better if you removed the subs and placed the probes directly where the wires connect.

I have talked to a ton of people and most everybody says go with the JL SB and be done with it. You will have to add a sub amp however. Did you retain any of the factory stuff besides the speakers? or were those changed out?

I dont want to go through the hassle of changing out everything like I did on my e39 so im just gonna get some summing devices and build from there.

I went with a 5-channel Kenwood amp and everything factory is gone except for the speakers...

For the time being I have the two speakers run in parallel to the amp for a 4ohm load and am very happy with it. No, it doesn't thump or shake the rear view mirror but my wife is happy with the full tone.

Did you have a DSP sound system?

Had the DSP amp.
