Dice Ipod Problems

Hey guys, after hearing both good and bad things about the dice unit, I decided to get one. I get it today and install it, everything goes smooth until I decide to try it out. The ipod charges, it displays it on the mid, but guess what...no audio. Will change tracks etc, but again no audio.

My 03 X5 built 12/02 has both the 3 and 6 pin connections, The dsp amp, but there was no coax cable in the bundle, however there is a coax connection on the amp. I have been told several times that I wouldnt need the dsp module because I have the 3 and 6 pin connectors, but can someone confirm this? Has anyone ever had both connections and still needed the converter?

Thanks
Dave

Just a little bit of an update, for people who have this same problem, apparently nobody around here knows so I will give an update.

I ordered and installed the Blitz DSP converter, it was on Amazon for about 60 bucks or so. After doing so, both the Ipod sound and Sirius sound came alive.

Its interesting as most sites say, even the dice manual says that the converter is not needed when you have both the 6 pin and 3 pin plugs. Well in this case they were wrong. I dont know if it was because my truck has a build date of 12/02 or what.

Overall im happy with the Dice, sound is as good as it can be for an ipod, controls are easy for both sirius and ipod. Steering wheel controls still work and Artist/Album/Title displays on the mid for both Ipod and Sirius. Total cost was about $200 with the converter, which is not bad considering a factory Sirius kit would have ran about $500. I will take some pics if anyone is interested.

I'd like to hear more. I have an '03 with an original Dice hooked into the changer and my wife would like to add Sirius. Are you using an alternate method of hooking it up?

I am using an scc1 tuner that plugs into the dice unit. I don't know if the older dice units have the tuner connection or not. If so you can get a tuner package off amazon for about 40 bucks or so, install antenna and install tuner and your good to go.

My dice is very old. Will have to dig it out and check. Otherwise may pickup a new version. Which did you go with? And any suggestions on where to put the antenna for sat?

I got mine at amazon with Sirius tuner module for under $170 shipped. I put my antenna in the spoiler like oem. Running the cable through the rubber boots was a pita but I didn't want the antenna exposed.

Link to the Blitz DSP Converter?

I think I'll go the mediabridge route for Bluetooth support as well. Just need to peel back the onion a bit and see what I've got as it was many years ago that I installed it.

So if you have a later E53 with just 3 and 6 pin connectors, where is the coax or where does it go?
