any ideas?

you did not mention if your car has a Bluetooth, navigation... if you have BT, can you hear anything? the BT operates the two front speakers in the front doors...

Have you checked the wiring at the Amp? you did not say if you have DSP... do you get any crackling sound from any other speakers?

since the problem seems to be with more than one speaker, the issue probably lies within the amplifier/DSP plug... check to see if the plug is secured in its place...

I don't have DSP or Bluetooth or navigation
I didn't try the phone, the eject box need replacement
Is it possible to advise the location of the amplifier and if possible the part number
Thanks

I couldn't really tell you what to check to be honest. It could just be dropping channels. Awhile back, the entire right side of my car was not outputting any audio. I checked the amp first and the connections were corroded. I cleaned it and nothing happened. I was advised to replace the radio tuner. Ordered one online and all my speakers were functional.

I checked it and the amplifier is defective :(
I'll replace it, but can I put DSP one (plug and play) or have to install non DSP (as the original setup)
Thanks

We have changed the amplifier and still same problem :(
We are suspecting the radio module on back trunk near the battery

Thats exactly what happened to me. In my previous post I mentioned the radio tuner - - I think you have the same problem I had.

I actually replaced the amp too! Nothing changed, then the radio tuner, and it worked.

I guess its intuition to replace the amp first. Not to mention my amp had a lot of corrosion on the electrical pins. I still have my old amp I should probably test it to see if it still works.

Hmmm... sure interested to hear how this one turns out. Three of my speakers have no sound. I've been hoping to find a wiring diagram for my system so I can trace which wires are supposed to be carrying the speaker signals and isolate the problem. So far I've had no luck finding a diagram (the one in the Bentley book doesn't match). It's DSP with 10 (or is it 12?) speaker system. If eyeiieye's problem turns out to be the tuner like hunds02, then I might focus there. Hunds02, did you have to have the new tuner coded for your vehicle?

hunds02 01-02-2014 01:39 PM

I did not have to recode my tuner. Its just plug and play.

If i want to replace head unit with after market one like dynavin.
I've still to replace radio tuner or the new unit will bypass it ?
Thanks

I am not too sure about Dynavin. Check out the AVIN head unit. Installed mine and I love it now! This does replace the radio tuner. go to avinusa.com

i have this problem i only have one speaker working

it is a common fault with all x5 its the radio module in the boot

you can get them fixed on ebay for £100

i put a tester on the wire which is running the one speaker to find it and then i put a feed from the other speakers in to the one to make them all work.

hope this helps
