Opinions on this aftermarket Nav?

I just came across this aftermarket system from Bimmian.
Looks pretty reasonable for the money - $500. I know that the Garmin has a lot more to offer but is about double the price. I would probably only use the nav a few times a year at most - thats why I didn't want it as an original option.
Interested in your opinions.

I, for one, am not impressed with the finish.
I guess if you'd only use it occasionally, it could be hidden from others.... However that seems an odd intention for a mod. I have the TomTom Go 700, and have been pleased with it. Take a peek at www.TomtomGo.com.
Good luck.

Get a TomTom Go 500/700

Fantanstic, purpose built and well designed GPS device with a touchscreen. It comes with a wireless (ie. not line of sight) remote control and also works as a bluetooth handsfree car kit. It can also be wired into your stereo (to mute, and for instructions) with an optional cable. You can also use it while walking or riding a bike.

We have 2 cars - a BMW 318i E46 with Mk-IV Navigation and a smart fortwo with a TomTom Go 500.

The TomTom wins hands down for functionality IMO. Very clever and easy to use.
The only benefits of the BMW Navigation are:
- looks neater being integrated
- navigation computer has a gyro and wheel speed sensor inputs (therefore can navigate underground/tunnels/in dense cities

Have fun.
