Under settings what does the memo feature do?

I have a 05 X5 4.4 with Nav.
My nav manual was gone and I was given a 2006.
Under settings there is a memo option to turn on or off.
When it is on a little logo appears on the screen.
What the heck does it do??????????/
Thanks all

:rtfm: just kidding.
page 86 of the owners manual.

Reminder signal
You can program a reminder signal –
memo – to be heard every hour, so that
you are sure not to miss a news broadcast.
Press the left side of the button.
Press:
MEMO OFF appears in the display for
entry and call-up buttons, and the tone
symbol will appear in the upper right of
the display.
A signal is then heard 15 seconds
before each hour.
