First connect the GT-1

1. Code ZCS/FA
2. select after sales replacement(retrofit)( i know it isn't, but other wise you can't code the MK4
3. select IKE
4. select language
5. then you have to selet the 3 languages
6. Then on the nav screen you wil see load software. But you can’t see because your Nav still isn’t code for the Monitor. Butt you musst put the V26 in the MK4.
7. after you putt the V26 you have to wait in about 2 minutes the screen wil come, last time it took about 4 minutes.
8. After the succesfull software load , you have to select recode the Navigation computer, an you can code the MK4 to your car.

greets Appy.

Appy sorry if this is a dumb question (I don't know anything about GT-1) is GT-1 a world wide tool will a UK dealer have it?

tweakerwes 10-20-2006 01:46 PM

i don't know if a rover dealer have a gt-1
And one important thing, the update cd must be version 2.6
otherwise it don't work.
If you don't find a dealer with a gt-1, you can always send the mk4 to me and i install it in my car and recode it.

OK thanks, this MK4 does not belong to me I just offered to test it but I will pass your kind offer to the owner when I send it back to him

I wonder why one would need to use only Ver. 26 OS disk? I understood "vollgasfahrer" to say the procedure worked for MKIII and MKIV computers. The only applicable OS Versions for MKIIIs were Ver. 15 thru Ver.22. MKIV would use Ver. 20.1 and later. Also I recently read the TIS page "RA 65 90 -- Notes on handling navigation computers" and it refers to using Ver.25 when coding e46 cars for radio nav instead of color nav.

In Post 12 vollgasfahrer refers to reprograming both MKIII and MKIVs using the procedure in the Posted Manual. Where is the Posted Manual? Is is appy's instructions or something additional? Also Ver.26 was not issued until 09/05 and the MKIV computers we are talking about were built in 2003, mine in 03/03 and Keith's in 08/03.

Help me understand this, I am a little confused.

I would expect any version CD will probably do the job.

It is one of these things where in a ideal world you need to be able to be let loose to play on your own for a while!

I am going to my Local BMW dealer next week to get some BM24 to 54 adapter leads and I will see if I can find a tech willing to have a chat or even have a go at doing it

99% sure GT1 will not work on my Rover so I will have to either ask them to put it in a donor car or when I send it back to the person that bought it he would have to do the same

My Indy said the Rover dealer should have a GT1. Have you checked?

Hi,

the Rover also works with BMW equipment. The only problem is, the bootscreen, the Rover Logo, can't be changed.

I have tride this by MK3 and MK4 he would't take any update cd.
So if somebody has an solution for this, plaese......

Tweakerwes,
I would like to ask you a very important question about the MKIV that you were able to recode. I have one too (BMW part # 65906942908-03, made 05-04)and would like to recode it at the dealer. However, I am wondering if your MKIV had 2 white stickers on top and on one of them it said:
Display BMWM01S
Update Status: IO

If yes, then the sticker simply means that it was coded for monochrome at the factory and recoding it to color is NOT a problem. Also, can you send me the exact procedure of how you did it at the dealer? I have friends at the dealership and they promissed to try to recode it.
Thanks very much,
Peter
