I tried the procedure described on page 17. I started from the V26.00 image. I replaced the splash screen with the ///M logo, replaced the navboot file in the image, burned it, entered the disk in my navi unit. I got the message that new software would be installed, blablabla, reboot, ...might take up to 6 minutes... and a few seconds later (certainly less than 20 seconds), I got a message that the update was successful, and that I could remove the disk and press OK. So far so good.
NOTHING CHANGED????? Still got the old splash screen, the version info I entered is not found (just reads 4.1.60 or something like that).

I entered the cd in my pc, copied the navboot file to my hard drive, checked the splash image again with the gifextractor, and I really did burn the correct image.

What did I do wrong?

Thx!

edit: @M3QP: working on that file. As soon as it is finished (and it works), I'll upload it somewhere, and post the link.

NOTE: If you already had V26 loaded, you have to drop a version, then re-upgrade BACK up to your "logofied" version for the update to take.

It won't update if the version is the same as the one already installed.

I have a completed v26 ISO with custom splash screen posted on the M5Board here, but it is not using the screen below. I have the .GIF image I used posted in the above thread.

Four Ari (and anyone else!),

Just figured out the problem you are having with the Gif extractor and security warnings.

Turn off any fire walls.

Go to internet properties,
click security tab,
Click 'Custom level' box,
At the bottom of this window set the 'Reset to:' option to 'low'
Then click 'Reset',

Now go to the series of options within the window above and go to the first item:

'.Net Framework-reliant components,
Run components not signed with identicode''
Click 'Disable'

Click OK

Close down properties and go back to the link - you should now be able to down load the GIF extractor and run it without problems.:)
