Adding features such as Off road navigation

I am looking into trying to figure out what is needed to add off road navigation, and it seems the first place to start is with the language packs

Below is a data dump from the Rover Navigation software lnaguage pack American English. Notice it is similar to the BMW with the added language features. This actually looks more difficult than modding Perspective as the code does not seem to be complete in the MKIV files. Anyway, let me know if anyone wants to try to work on this and I will offer up what I know about Off Road Navigation in the MKIII

The waypoint icon shown on the map is a cross in a circle.
The destination icon shown on the map is a chequered circle.
The current vehicle position icon is a blue circle with a blue triangle pointing in the direction of travel.
The Compass Display contains a red needle which indicates the direction of True North.
During guidance, the compass display also shows a wide arrow.
This arrow indicates the direction of the next waypoint or destination.
The arrow will change colour to indicate the mode of guidance, FORWARD is white and REVERSE is green.
The symbol at the top of the Compass Display always represents the direction the vehicle is pointing.
Each Off Road Navigation route consists of a numbered series of waypoints leading to a final destination.
Up to 20 named routes may be stored in the ROUTE LIST.
FORWARD guidance of a route will follow the waypoints in increasing numerical order.
REVERSE guidance of a route will follow the waypoints in decreasing numerical order.
Guidance can be followed along the FULL ROUTE or started at an intermediate waypoint by selecting SELECT FIRST WAYPOINT.
During guidance, it is possible to bypass a waypoint by selecting SKIP TO NEXT WAYPOINT.
Selecting REVIEW ROUTE lists the waypoints of the selected route in increasing numerical order.
The bearing and distance between each waypoint and the next is also displayed.
Individual waypoints can be selected for editing or re-ordering.
Selecting DELETE ROUTE permanently removes the selected route from the ROUTE LIST.
COPY ROUTE creates a duplicate of the selected route.
The duplicate route must be given a different name from the original.
Selecting NEW ROUTE allows a new route to be named.
Waypoints may then be created within this route.
A waypoint is a named location on a route defined by a set of GPS coordinates.
Up to 35 named waypoints may be stored in a route.
Selecting INSERT WAYPOINT creates a new waypoint on the route BEFORE or AFTER the selected waypoint.
The default waypoint name and co- ordinates may be changed if required.
Selecting CURRENT POSITION creates a new waypoint on the route BEFORE or AFTER the selected waypoint.
The default waypoint name and co- ordinates may be changed if required.
COPY WAYPOINT copies the selected waypoint, complete with its name and coordinates.
The waypoint can then be pasted into any route using INSERT WAYPOINT.
PASTE WAYPOINT inserts a previously copied waypoint into the route under review.
The waypoint name and coordinates are the same as that of the last copied waypoint but may be changed if required.
DELETE WAYPOINT deletes the selected waypoint from the route under review.
Selecting DELETE WAYPOINT will enable the waypoint to be pasted.
EDIT WAYPOINT allows the name or co- ordinates of a waypoint to be changed.
Use DELETE WAYPOINT and PASTE WAYPOINT to change the order of waypoints within a route.
GOTO is used to give guidance to a single destination that is not part of a route.
A destination name may be entered.
A GOTO destination is not permanently stored.
The TIMING display provides the estimated 'TIME TO' and elapsed 'TIME FROM' information and allows the manual stopwatch feature to be operated.
Selecting BACKTRACK reverses the order of the waypoints currently being followed.
Guidance will proceed from the current point on the route and will continue until the first, or last, waypoint is reached.

Ambishop,

The Range Rover software is located at www.xoutpost.com/members/dinger this is zipped in CD Clone image format. I am sure the 'off road' option and modules could be combined/inserted into the current V26 - just a matter of how!

lionkang 03-01-2006 12:10 AM

Can range rover software be installed on BMW navigation?

dinger 03-09-2006 12:01 PM

Has anyone got anywhere whith activating the off road features yet? I have posted the range rover software for comparrasion.

Dinger run this past me again
You have just posted an OS CD of the Range Rover software yes?
I.e you can stick that CD in your Nav Comp and flash the firmware? is this a MK3 or Mk4 and does your unit carry a Rover part number? if so do you know what it is? where did you get the CD from?

The reason why I ask is I have a neighbour with a virtually brand new Rover 75 V8 and his Mk3 seems to either be faulty or needs a reload as it is asking for a software CD and as we know the Rover units spit out the BMW OS ones in disgust!

I don't have a clue why BMW ones can if necessary be bought at a Dealer but the Rover ones seem to be like Hens teeth I really would like to get hold or a proper Rover 75 one. or would yours work?

The software is at www.xoutpost.com/members/dinger. I do not think it will suit your neighbours machine but you are welcome to try it. It is in a zipped file with CD Clone images.

Good luck

alexank 03-09-2006 04:21 PM

Thanks no harm in giving it a try
Where did you get it from can you buy these over the counter? like the BMW version, or do I need to go searching somewhere

I just can't believe there is not a copy of the MG ZT/Rover 75 OS CD not siiting on a server somewhere on the interwub

dinger 03-10-2006 03:20 PM

I got it from a friend who got a copy from a dealers.

i have a 2003 range rover that came with a mklll unit with offroad capability. i just installed a mklv that i got on ebay. i have lost the offroad ability and don't use it much anyway as real maps are better. can i load rover info into my mkiv and then sell the mark lll. the rover mklll looks and operates just like the bmw...in fact my rover runs a 4.4 bmw trans, engine, switches, lights, and seems to be 90% bmw. i would like to put the land rover logo back on instead of bmw, however. is the logo in the rover software disk and would the bmw unit accept a rover software disk. i love the mklv split screen etc. i'm happy to tinker with the old nav unit.
by the way i tried the rover cal/nev disk in it and it did work.
any info would be helpful
thanks
owebee
