Nav Cd Stuck In Mk3

I have a NAV update CD stuck in my MK3 drive and it WILL NOT EJECT. Is there a quick fix for getting this out of the NAV or am I beat? Please help

Hi djtroy,

I've had this happen many a time in my Mk3 sat nav.. It's easy to sort out, without requiring a trip to the dealer, or even opening the sat nav computer.

Make sure the ingnition is on in the car, and then go round to the sat nav computer, and press and hold the eject button. The button will flash whilst pressed, but you must keep hold of the eject button for about 3 minutes (i'm not joking either).

You'll notice that eventually the light on the eject button will stop flashing. As soon as you see this let go of the button, and press it again quickly. The CD will then eject..

If you have any problems let me know..

:iagree:

Another sugestion, if that doesn't work is to remove the power to the unit (either by disconnecting the battery or removing the cables from the back of the uint) and then reapply power while holding down the eject button.

Also, some people have found that just driving around for a few days, eventually the unit will complete the update and spit the disk out on its own.

:goodluck:

If all that doesn't work, let me know and I can give you instructions on how to take the Nav apart and manually wind out the CD. Just promise you'll consider this action a last resort.

TIS states the following procedure: Unplug unit and after replug quickly press the eject button several short times.

That seemed to work for me with the stuck CD-RW in my MK4 this morning :yikes: - I was fair carpping myself this morning as my nav is still under warranty - couldn't take the top off as it has the anti-tamper labels.

Persevere with it - took many attempts until the disk popped out of mine - but one swift movement removed it from the drive and frisbee'd it into the nearest bin!

Removed jammed stuck NAV CD / Disk

I finally figured it out. :)

I didnt even have to unplug the nav. all you have to do is hold down the eject button and wait while you hear the cd trying to read (I think I heard it do this about 4 times) keep your finger on the eject button the whole time and once you hear the nav unit stop trying to read the disk (about 1.5 - 2 min) let go of the eject button and press it again quickly and the disk pops out for you to throw across the room.
I even tried it twice to see if I wasn't just getting lucky. It came out both times using the above method.

I have an MKIII 2001 M5
