Can I downgrade from V26
 

I would like to downgrade from v26 to v24 on my MkIII, swap the voice files on the cd using magic iso, re-install v26 with modified voices. Will I get a female voice then? Now its male and I hate it.
Is this possible ?

From your nav computer's perspective, V24 and V26 are the same. Both are 3-1/63. You would need to go to something older then V22 in order for the nav drive to recognize that it's an older disk.

v23 to v26 on MKIII
 

So in theory , I can download v23, edit the cd swapping names from male to female, reinstall modified version 23 over 26, then I will get female voice even tought the navigation thinks I have a male voice ?

No, you would have to go to V21.1 or earlier. See http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/all-...ystem-faq.html for what disks take you to what level. Since you are at 3-1/63 already then you need to go down to at least 3-1/62.

As for the voice files, in theory I think it's possible. But I haven't seen confirmation of this on a MkIII yet, just a MkIV.

V26 TO V20.1 then V26
 

Ok, I'm downloading version 20.1,
I'll chek if language files are there.
Swap female / male names and install v20.1.
Then Ssee what happends.

....Or should just downgrade original v.20.1, and then install version v26 with language modified?

In any case If something goes wrong I guess I can install any other higher version to restore default.

When I downgraded from V26 to V25, I had to take the car back to the dealers to have the Nav re-coded - data went back to default settings - car identity changed from X5 to 7 series, colour was lost and the VIN number was lost etc etc

Upgrading doesn't present any problems, but don't downgrade!! Wait for V27 to come out - change the voices etc etc and upgrade.

You are almost right !. I did put version 20,1 all all went down.
Finally I managed to eject cd and then after an hour of tries I manage to re-install version V26 again. So now its working again but with the male voice...
i guess I'll have to whait for version v27, and swap voice then, before updating. This MKIII is very tricky !! Almost went to the BMW dealer !
