Question about Navteq 2005-2

What's the specific difference between The X5 Navteq and the 530i Navteq 2005-2 edition DVD? The 530i DVD dosn't work in the X5.

There are 2 different versions of the Navigation DVD. One works in i-bus vehicles such as the X5, and the other works in MOST-bus vehicles such as the new 5-series. I can't tell you what the difference is, but they are not interchangable. :tsk:

Yep. We found that out. I have never heard of MOST-bus but since we just bought a 5 series I have a feeling I'm gonna need to learn more about it. Trouble is I'm not finding the 5 Series site that enjoyable. Perhaps it's me though.

The MOST bus is an optical bus that is orders of magnitude faster than the i-bus (which is a copper wire based electrical bus technology). All vehicles are going that way. Problem is that there's not as many "hacks" developed for the MOST bus like there is now for the i-bus. All in due time, though ;)

Ah yes maybe the reason there is no iPod adaptor and such right now. The CEO is not in a hurry for it but has been considering an iPod. Information on how to get it dialed in the best way possible has not been easy to get. I guess part of that has been the lack of effort on my part. For now we will just burn a few MP3 disc's. Thanks for the info.
