If anyone wants it let me know i'll give you the address to dl off the torrent.

Click on part 1. It is a self-extracting application.

Why is the first file .exe and the other 3 are .rar? How do I get a .mdf image file out of these four files?

I dont know why the first file is an .exe and the other 3 are .rar but i just unzipped all of them of which, file two and three are identical. After extracting you should have an image file to burn.

Note* It should be an MDS file that you should be clicking at when using DVD Decrypter to burn. Its a 4.21 kb image file. If using another program to burn sorry cant help you out.*

ericq 04-10-2006 09:34 PM

Last day i'm seeding guys. I hope whoever gets it fully downloaded will seed.

zee28 04-11-2006 09:44 AM

I've got a pretty fast cable connection and I've been downloading continuously for three days - I'm on 84% complete. Hopefully it will be done today.

If there were more seeders than dl's you would of been done two and a half days ago.

zee28 04-11-2006 04:36 PM

I'm sure that's true. It appears I'm hooked to one seed, probably you, and its at a crawl - about 10kb/s. Please don't quit me now - It says I ONLY have 14 hours to go!

Jay1967 04-12-2006 08:22 AM

I open all four files the exe. + the three rar file used dvd decrypter to burn the MDS file which is al together about 3.9g and when I put it in the nav it does not see it. what kind of media did you use +R or -R

solodkyg 04-12-2006 08:41 AM

Hi, does anyone have an FTP site to put these on, so it can be downloaded faster?

I used made in japan Taiyo yuden dvd +R, writing is set at max.

ericq 04-12-2006 04:11 PM

Be sure to use good media as not all media are created equal as some will will play and some will not. The Taiyo Yudens play in about 95% of dvd players and other brands will only work on some.

You can get the Taiyo Yuden at staples but make sure to look on the label that they're made in japan. Here's a link to what you want to buy. Its a sony dvd but they're made by Taiyo Yuden.

Edit* Dont buy online as you want to physically check if its made in japan. If not you will get made in Tawian which is not good.

When the image was split into 4 .rar files, the first part includes a self-extraction routine, so you actually don't need to unzip / unrar. Just click on Part 1, with the .exe extension, and the four .rar segments will be uncompressed and consolidated.

Has anyone had this problem i did the burn using fuji dvd+r went fine but the MKIV does not see the dvd so no i am using sony DVD+R an my hp writer does not see the media to burn to.

I used the same media only with a NEC 1300 burner. I found that about half the burns were not readable by the MK4 (that's when I burned at 4x). Did you try burning at a slower speed? I am using 2X, now, with the Fuji 8x +r media.

ahmadof 04-16-2006 01:34 AM

had no problems

i just finished the download, saw all four files. I use a mac. I used UNRARX to open the first file (part 2) and it automatically joined part 3 and 4 to it. I was then left with two files, a (.mdf) and and (.mds). I just ignored the (,mds) and changed the (.mdf) to (.iso). I then mounted and burned this image. I've got some really cheap no name brand DVD-R and burned at best speed (8X) for me. The resulting DVD works great. I don't know if I got lucky, but everything was very easy (other than 5 days worth of downloading). The file does work though.

Jay1967 04-17-2006 10:36 AM

Finally got to work using of all things staples dvd+r. thanks for the download. I will be seeding for couple of days anyone want it.

Harvey2nd 04-18-2006 08:05 AM

Read somewhere that you need DVD-R for MK4.

Made a back-up of my Nav DVD onto both DVD+R and DVD-R and only got the DVD-R to work.

I have successfully used both a DVD-R and a DVD+R for my backups.

RichardP1 04-18-2006 10:46 AM

I know that the usual advice is to burn a DVD at the slowest possible speed, but while doing the speed camera POI disks I found that my combination of Verbatim DVD-R and NEC ND-4550A ONLY works if you burn at 16x, any slower speed and the Mk IV will not recognise the disk.

Chip 04-18-2006 08:51 PM

Someone with the 100% file PLEASEEE seed, I am at 99.9% and have 5mb left to dl, but there arent any Seeders!!!

Oh man, :( Im still at 99.9

mikee 04-25-2006 10:15 AM

Hi all

Can anyone tell me whether DVD+RW should work or whether it has to DVD-R or DVD+R?

I tried it with a +RW and it works intermittently and very slowly compared to the original disk, and the POI and information don't work at all.

Thanks

DVD-R and DVD+R work, but I'd be surprised if a DVD+RW would work. :tsk:

john348 04-26-2006 03:26 AM

I have an NRG is that the same as an ISO but in Nero speak. Can I just rename? I will try.

John

alfav6 04-27-2006 10:36 AM

I did the back up a couple of weeks ago. I used Nero to back up the disc at the slowest speed. the DVD I used was a cheap one that you buy in spools. Its working great

bartolome1 04-29-2006 09:19 AM

Thanks for the link

I was able to burn the image using Alcohol 120% at max speed. I'm using some TDK DVD+R's from costco (packaged in a spool of 100).

bimmer jon 05-02-2006 12:07 PM

i used a staples DVD R- and could not get it to work on maximum or minimum speed. the nav drive would load the dvd and then stay on "Please Wait a Moment". I left it for about 5 minutes and then the map appeared with nothing on it and then froze. Could it be the DVD?

bartolome1 05-02-2006 01:01 PM

It could be the media or the way you are burning it. My previous copy started to act buggy so I picked up some new media (Phillips DVD+R currently on sale at Circuit City 25 for $6.99). Instead of Alcohol 120 I used DVD Decrypter at 8x (the max for my dvd writer) and so far it works, we shall see.

Same here. But, I reburned using DVD+R and it works great.

Retrokid23 05-08-2006 05:00 PM

I just saw this thread and I got all excited until I found out no one is seeding so I can't get the file. Can comeone please seed for me? Thanks guys.

Harvey2nd 05-09-2006 01:47 AM

Contrary to my previous experience, just tried a Verbatim DVD+R using Alcohol at 4X - excellent result. Lot quicker response time compared to the DVD-RW that I previously had in.

Retrokid23 05-09-2006 02:47 AM

Thanks to whoever is seeding for me! It's going at 12.0kb right now which is pretty decent. Should be done in 2 days if it stays steady.

man02195 05-10-2006 12:37 PM

I was downloading at a good clip until I reached 80%, now it's dropped down to 2-5K with only 1 seed. I'm seeding 4 others, so they'll catch up today.

Retrokid23 05-11-2006 12:23 AM

Someone seed for me please?! I am at 56.1% and it totally just stopped downloading. Earlier today it was going at a rate of 100kb/s which was fast.

according to the Navteq website, Europe and North America both are 2006.2; however, only North America is DVD. The Europe maps are all CDs. So if it's 4+GB for the file, chances are it's for North America. I could be wrong, but that's what the website is showing when I look for nav maps for both Europe and North America.
EDIT: there is a bug when you search www.navteq.com. after you've searched North America or Europe, you have to close the browser window and open the website again in another window to search the other region.

Easy instructions for North America

Hey, I'm new at this DVD burning stuff. This is the first time I've used my new DVD burner on my IBM thinkpad t60. First time I've ever heard of torrent. Piece of cake. Trust me.

Obtain torrent file and torrent client..
1. Torrent client: use BitComet and download it from http://www.BitComet.com
2. Download the the correct torrent image http://torrentspy.com/download.asp?id=626299. Click on the downloaded file after you install BitComet, and the agonizingly slow download begins automatically.
3. Wait up to 3 days for the image to download in 4 parts.
4. Part one is a self extracting file that creates a single MDF and single MDS file. Double click on part one to extract. Ignore the MDS file.
5. Change the MDF extension to ISO so the file is named 2006-2.iso
6. I used the cheapy Taiwan made Staples DVD-R discs.
7. I used the free sonic RecordNow to burn the image on the DVD-R at whatever speed the program wanted. Can probably use windows media player to burn the disc. Took about 5 1/2 minutes.
8. Go to Nav DVD player in car/SAV. Eject old disc and insert newly burned disc.
9. Drive and don't get lost. Enjoy the new zip code function.

Still disappointed that the major beltway (Rt 288) around Richmond still doesn't exist on this map.
