DVD Nav doesn't have a few cities in it...

When I try to enter Fountain Valley or City of Orange, nothing comes up. Any ideas? I've tried "Orange" and "City of Orange" and nothing comes up. This BMW Nav is just crap. My Garmin 320 is so much easier to use and works better.

That's a limitation of the map database, not the hardware.

The map databases are supplied to BMW from various external mapping companies (depending on the country) and BMW just adds BMW service centres to the POI database.

If you think the system is 'just crap' use your Garmin...

...or you could try an alternative method to determine how the location you're interested in is described in the database. Use the 'Destination Input Map' and scroll to the destination on the map, select that position as your destination and it should go back to the 'Enter Destination' page, showing you what city/suburb/etc your destination is in.

You would think, but these are BIG cities and when I drive through them, the nav say's the Cities name. If you seriously think the BMW nav is worth getting, you should really check out other systems. BMW's drive nicely, but the nav is almost worthless.

If you have V26 and the 2006 maps, you now have the choice of entering the ZIP instead of the City. That might be your solution.

Thanks. I'll need to go to the dealer for this.
