Upgrade questions? Someone?
 

Can I get my dealer to upgrade my nav for free. Will using a new Nav map DVD dmagae the system in anyway? I know the firmware can, is it worth upgrading to V27?Ive read alot about how people have problems with their Nav not findig the right place and also the disc not being read. I have a X5 4.4 05'. Thanks for taking your time to answer these questions!

Many dealers will do the update for you free of charge. For the low low price of a blank CD, I choose to do it myself.

V27 gives you Perspective mode, which is a cool new look to the nav graphics.

First post.

I own an 05 3.0 X5 with V24 navigation. Does this new version allow me to select a state before city? sometime it takes FOREVER to put the city in just because it searches the whole US, i feel like it would be so much faster if they allowed us to keep California as a state.

Also, what are the main differences between V24 and V27, i looked at the posts and everything but i'm still a little confused. From an owners perspective, what about this newer version makes things easier/cooler in a nutshell?

Yes. The states appear in alphabetic order in "Select country" after US and Canada in V27.
V26 improved the on-screen display by using anti-aliased fonts. V27 added perspective mode as well as supporting the search-by-zip and other features of the latest map discs.

Actually the ability to select a State (as well as Zip Code) came about with the release of the 2006.2 map DVD. It works with V26 as well.
