O.k. After playing with the thing for a long time, I finally got into the hidden menu. Here's the kicker, after turning the perspective mode to on, when I went back to nav., The map still looked the same,nothing changed. Now what do I do.? Thanks

Try changing to Perspective from with the Map Positioning menu. It will be the last option below Pointing North and Direction of Travel..
