dvd on nav
 

My daughter sits in the middle of the back seat, so i just wanted to know if i can just play a dvd for her on the nav screen if so what do i need to buy. thanks

The nav system by itself does not have the ability to display a video image on the screen. To do that, you need to add a separate component that will feed video. The post referenced by vinuneuro lists most of the common options, and some of these do include TV capability as well. In addition to those listed, Dietz makes a aux video input for the car as well. Acutally, better than the options I posted above, Wuzin used a different/new method for displaying video on the nav screen. He used ilink + vsm (video source module) from EAS. With this he's able to display movies/video, music, photos, etc from his ipod. Yes Yes, you will need a separate DVD player.

Most folks add the TV module, because that is the cheapest way, if you buy a used one from eBay. However, you can add an aftermarket standard video input adapter that would accept the output from your DVD player and show it on the nav screen. Here is an example of one of the video adapters.

i like that, i am guessing you add that plus a dvd player and its all set. would i lose anything? or is this just an add on. i have icelink-plus so lost the cd player no big deal this looks a good option is it plug and play?

This is an add-on that the system was factory designed to handle. These other modules are just alternatives to the factory TV/Video module. You do not lose a thing.
