Nav Problem

Ok, so I finished installing me navigation system in my 2001 X5. The navigation DVD did not come with my Mk3. I had to buy an older versin on ebay (a 2002-1 edition). I figured if I got one of the older ones I could just pop in the updated version a lil later. Anyway, I have pretty much absolutely no experience with navigation systems at all. So what I am trying to do is have the BMW DVD (2002-1) work in my navigation. What are the steps to install it? It cant be a matter of just putting the DVD in, I tried that. HELP!

I am not 100% sure what you mean, but if you have a Mk3 Navi Computer, then DVD's will NOT work. They will only accept CD Map Disks. The easiest way to check is that the Mk4 has a big DVD logo on the front, under the slot.

Ok I just checked my Mk3 and it does not have the DVD logo printed anywhere. So if it takes a non-DVD format disc, where do I get the disc that I need? is there a download link anyone can give me?

You will have to buy the CD verion of maps, not the DVD version. Your Nav system cannot read DVD's. So, go to your local BMW dealer and purchase a CD set.
