Navteq 2007?

Anyone know what time of year the new nav disks are released? Don't want to go out and get the 2006-2 DVD just to have the 2007 version come out less than a month later :)

Navteq has been very sporatic and unpredictable with the frequency and timing of disk updates. I wouldn't look for a 2007 version to be released until early 2007.

Navteq 2007

Currently BMW and MINI release two navigation updates per year; one in February or March, and one in July or August which are not tied to a model year.
hope this helps,
MINIDOG

I hate to disagree with you on your first post here, but Navteq has never released more than one a year in North America ever since the first DVD was released in 2003.

Greetings to a fellow Michigander, and :xoutpost:

As I understand it, the raw mapping data is released on a monthly cycle & is available to manufacturers to purchase. This info directly from Navteq after submitting a batch of corrections for the 2006-2 BMW release.

It is then up to the manufacturer which mapping dataset they choose to use/release, and the frequency of release. BMW seem to choose to release twice per year. BMW also never seem to release the very latest mapping dataset, though this could be down to time taken to package and release the data they have bought from Navteq (3 month lag time?)

I spoke to my dealer about this they showed me a release date of November on their system just after the V28 release in October.

Thanks for the replies. Guess I will wait for a few months to see if the new one comes out. I just hate to spend $200 just to have a new one come out a month later.

The 2006.2 DVD for North America didn't get released until the spring of 2006. I'll be very surprised if you see the 2007 version released until spring of 2007.

Hi everyone...I purchased my 2006 x5 3.0 and it has the 2005 navigation Cd software. Is the 2007 CD software worth purchasing, is it going to be much of a difference ?

Thanks in advance

If you purchased your 2006 X3 after the release of the 2006 edition of Navteq, i would be asking for the latest version.

I AM CURRENTLY RUNNUNG 4-1/60 ON MY OPERATING SYSTEM FOR MY NAV AND USE THE 2005 NAVTEQ MAP CD. IF I UPGRADE TO 4-1/91 , WILL THIS GIVE ME A 3D MAP PERSPECTIVE?. DO I NEED TO UPGRADE AND PURCHASE THE 2007 MAP CD FOR THE 3D PERSPECTIVE ?

ALSO IF SOMEONE BURNS ONTO A CD A COPY OF THE 2007 NAV CD, WILL IT WORK AS GOOD AS THE ORIGINAL ?

No, just updating the nav computer to 4-1/91 will give you 3D perspective mode.

It depends on your MK4, some work with backups some don't, you would have to try it and see, at the end of the day all you've lost is the price of the blank...

Also, no need to shout mate, we can hear you at normal volume :)

HTH.

No, do not write at 1x, but write at the burning speed that your CD supports, then verify the quality of the disc after the burn

Burning at 1x results in a bad burn on some blanks and some drives. I have had bad results from a 1x burn.
I always
a) burn at the speed my CD supports - ImgBurn tells me the supported speeds, I select normally 16x
b) verify new disc is error free with imgBurn
c) verify surface of new CD is good using Nero CD-DVD Speed
d) check quality of disc and quantity of errors using Nero CD-DVD Speed, typical is a quality score of > 96%. I reject any disc with C2 errors, and accept discs with <100 C1 errors.

If I burnt at 1x, the disc would fail the surface scan test.

No I don't know what it means.

I have known a person who loaded corrupt software onto a Mk4, and the Mk4 crashed all the time. His disc was corrupt, quality score of <80

A new burn, carefully checked, and his Mk4 was OK again

It all depends where the error is in the corrupt file as to what impact it has... maybe nothing at all, maybe very serious...??
