2006-2 DVD with UK speed camera locations included
1 Attachment(s)
I have just uploaded the 2006-2 High disk including UK speed cameras to [LINK REMOVED - NOT COMPLIANT WITH FORUM GUIDELINES].
It has been split up into 28 files on Rapishare. The DVD contains all UK fixed and mobile camera sites using the latest database from GPS world. These files have now been deleted by Rapidshare following complaints!!! 22/09/2006 |
Ma, I need Nav BAD..I just got flashed about an hour ago...
|
Thats great -
Could I be abit naive and ask what other bits of kit will i need to succesfully burn this to a DVD? Will i need a DVD-R or DVD+R Can i use DVD-RW? Also what burning software to you reccomend? I have Nero but i am assuming that this will not be sufficient? I have MKIV DVD Thanks in advance  |
I use a good quality DVD-R, burned as slow as possible. Also, I used DVD Decrypter to burn it. I don't know about a DVD-RW.
|
I have now also added the Word document which details exactly how to do this, including links to required software etc.
|
Thanks Chris
I will give it a go tonight. The Speed Camera Database will hopefully make us all safer drivers :) The next thing BMW NAV needs is audible sounds when POI's are near by. Then it will be as good as my TOMTOM which i use in my other cars. Will keep you posted on how i get on. |
Help
Simply impossible to download. Wouldnt it be better to post to a server which is easily accessible and not chargeable ?
Life is simple after all;) |

guys, it seems that some people here on the board managed to get a DVD with french cameras, others are working on german ones plus this version with english cameras. would it be possible to join these efforts and prepare a 2007 dvd (when it comes out) with speed cameras from the UK, France and Germany?
|
Thanks
thanks for the link but i could not download them.
i already have a copy that i bought from ebay, i wanted a further copy as a spare as my copy is scrached and i can not copy it thanks again |
Thanks for that... well worth the £6 imho
Cant understand why people will buy copies from ebay for a tenner that have been burned too quickly, are on dubious quality disks, etc., and then wont pay £6 to download it off the net from a forum member... b :) |
the copy i bought from ebay also has the Fernch cameras on it
|
I got a cheaper and easier idea for you boys.

I,ve subscribed to Rapidshare and Pocket GPS World and downloaded your (28) 2006-2 files but I'm having trouble uderstanding your instruction document! 1. Do the 2006-2 files include the latest camera locations or do I have to get these from PGW as per your instructions? 2. If included, do I have to convert them to an ISO image before I can burn them onto a DVD or is the file extension .rar that of an ISO image? 3. Under 2 of your instructions) I have downloaded the latest 'pocketgps_europe.asc' zip file from Pocket GPS World. Where should I extract it too? 4. Under 3 b) I'm unable to access the ASCI to IDX/URL Mk4 convertor. 5. Could you please expand on 4) & 5), I'm not sure if I understand these. 6. Lastly, how do you keep the camera information up to date? Do you have to go through this procedure each time there are updates or is there a quick fix? Thx for your patience:confused: |

Am in the process of downloading this, not a complete newbie with regards to computers and suchlike but i am new to fiddling with the nav system.
Car is an 02 3.0d Sport with nav (obviously), so I want to know if this disk will work once burned. I believe that there are differences in the nav units (Mark I, II, III, IV, etc) and you can brick your unit by trying to upgrade it with the wrong software. So - Will this DVD work on my system? - Will it update my system in anyway, importantly in any potentially harmful way? *edit* - Have found out that my nav system is Mark 3, running v18.2 software and a 2002 disk. The latest I can upgrade to is v22, so will try and find out how to do that. So, still wondering if this nav dvd will work? - *edit* Thanks, Disco |
help
I have also downloaded all 28, but when I try to unrar there apears to be a CRC checksum error. I think that the source is not good and requires attention.
I await your feedback |
Downloaded and unrared for me no problem. Only thing is that I now know that it won't work for me as my system is cd based and I need the Navteq VDO Dayton 2006-2 cd for the Uk rather than this DVD, damn !

Is there a way to get notified when you come near a speed camera, like a beep or something?
Maybe in the GPS-settings? Thanks, J. |

Don't suppose you can get hold of the Navteq 2006-2 CD that i require for the Uk could you ???

Currently Dl-ing what I believe to be the correct one. Yup, will be small as Mk III is cd based so none of these 4.4gb images, lol
Disco |
It won't work for a Mk III and CD map disk, you need to have 4-1/60 (V26) or higher for the icons to be read from the disk. You will probably be able to get a list of cameras as POI, but that's not a lot of use.

Can you tell me what I have to do to chance the icon of the speedcamera's on the roadmap?
I want to give it an other colour. Thanks. |
Help
Finally managed to download 28 files and unrar them.
When I open the iso img in the Tables folder and then 0 folder it appears as follows: 0079.ASC 0079.IDX 0080.URL 0080.URL.URL Is this correct ? Also how can I change the icons to the Uk style english cameras for both the splash screen and the icons that appear on the map ? Where can these be downloaded and added to the iso img ? Thanks |
funny that the speed camera option is under "entertainment" :D
|
I'm struggling
I have some problems in converting the ASC to IDX&URL-formats. I do have speedcameras in a CAMERA.ASC-file, but the conversion fails. When I start the asc2idxurl_mk4_01.exe it asks the directory and some password. At the end it looks like the utility starts to convert itself instead of the CAMERA.ASC-file.
If somebody knows how to solve this, please tell me. |

It appears this link is now dead. I have added it to the folder containing the 28 rar files.QUOTE] |

The UK camera icons are in NCCBEU_EU_20060126>ICONS>NAVI0X & RR folders and are named POI_CAMERA.png. These are enabled by default as they are referenced by the ENG.LSC file. The splash screen has the French camera icon on as it has never been changed. Seems little point really. Chris |

Perspective Mode for X5
 Hi Chris, I just downloaded and made the DVD from your files for the 2006-2 maps. Works great, thanks very much. I have seen that the perspective mode for the display works for some systems. I turned on my system MK4 tp perspective mode, but it does not show perspective maps. Do you know if it works on the X5 nav systems? Again thanks for the upgrade!

Hi every time I try to extract the 28 files together or one by one while TUGZip is extracting the files the ISO Image/File is in the folder but when its finished extracting the ISO Image/File disapears. Whats going on?
Grant. |
Quote:
I don't know how TUGZip works. Download Winrar's trial version and use that. Just clicking on the first file will allow you to extract all 28 files into a single iso with Winrar. Chris |
Hi Chris I managed to extract all the files and burn them to dvd, but when the dvd is in the nav unit I dont see anything about the speed cameras. Did I have to add something to the files at all?
Grant. |

Ok Ill go and give it a go agian now and see.

No not there. Im gonna extract the files again and burn to another disk and see if it works then.

Hi Chris I have a Cooper S and running v27.1 software aswell.
Grant. Ive looked in all the options in Information and cant find anything for speed cameras. |
Well hopefully someone on here with a Mini will have the answer.
|
Hi Chris I got it to work. I think it was the ENG.LSC file and there were two lots of the 0079 and 0080 files.
It looks so cool with the cameras on the screen. Grant. |
ive had a problem with getting it to display on mine too...
can you explain what you did? do I need to delete the duplicate files or rename them or something?.. |
Hi G-man,
What exactly didi you do to fix the problem as I have exacty the same thing with my Mini and Chris and I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong. Any help MUCH appreciated... Cheers - R |
Hi rakh1
I deleted the 0079 and 0080 files and replaced them with the files I converted. I also replaced the ENG.LSC file with one I got from mini2 in the speed camera on sat nav sticky. If you want more help the send me a PM. Grant. |

Chris,
burned the dvd no problem, is there something you have to do to display the speed camera icons? I can get hotels etc. but not the speed cameras. Cheers Steve |
Quote:
You should find them at Information > Travel Information > Info on Location > Car > Speed Cameras. However, Mini owners are having issues (see above). However, if you have a 3 series or an X5, you should be OK. Chris |

Chris,
works fine now (maybe I should of read the previous posts first to find the answer!) Cheers Steve |
How to add this data?
Chris,
Sorry if this is extremely clear to long term X5'ers, but I did a quick search and didn't see any links about how to add data. If you know where there is a link, can you point me to it? I live in the Phoenix, Arizona area where the first highway photo radar has been launched by an Aussie firm. Until we ban mobile phone usage, I am doing everything in my power to make the photo radar cams useless. I want to add this info to the USA data. Thank you for your efforts and assistance! ;) |

My attack plan is to continue driving 150+MPH every day to scare them out of their silicone infested panties and make them pay attention to their driving. I've driven 8 months without a ticket - I have a secret weapon and I will continue to use it to terrorize idiots on mobile phones until we book them in jail for at least 30 days with a $10,000 fine. |

I don't quite see the correlation between speed cameras and mobile phone use?? Anyway, to set up a NA 2006-2 disc up with speed camera locations, you can use the instructions I've already posted here.. The only difference is you would need the NA GPS co-ordinates for the locations in this format: ;* Created by POIConverter version 3.15 on 10/07/2006 ;* Longitude, Latitude, "Name" [, "Description"] -2.17788, 50.68304, "GATSO:1@40" -2.09934, 50.70723, "GATSO:2@30" -2.08936, 53.50270, "GATSO:3@20" -0.11078, 52.02661, "GATSO:8@70" -0.39579, 51.52150, "GATSO:10@50" -2.48386, 52.69615, "GATSO:12@30" -2.07762, 53.51140, "GATSO:13@30" -2.74783, 53.32440, "GATSO:14@60" There is a website in the UK where we can download this data for £2, but we are so infested with cameras it's a worthwhile enterprise. Not sure how you'll get this info yourself. I just had a quick scan on Google and it seems there are only about 1000 cameras in the whole of NA. There must be that amount in London alone here!! For our NA cousins, I attach a map of Southern England showing the amount of cameras. |
Thanks for that!
The issue I have with photo radar on highways is that the women who drive huge SUVs (twice or three times bigger than an X5) with a mobile glued to their head love photo radar. When people drive fast they have to drop their mobile phone and pay attention to their driving. With the photo radar in place, they feel comfortable driving a 6,500 lb truck around at 60MPH while not paying attention. I am pushing hard to ban mobile phone use while driving in Arizona. The first piece of legislation is to ban use, with a $10,000 and 1 month in jail first time penalty. The other is to legalize drunken driving if mobile phone use is not made illegal - just to raise the point that it is lunacy to outlaw drunken driving while allowing mobile use while driving. |
Hi - this is for those MINI owners that have not got this working...
I found that you need to make an addition to the ENG.LSC file in order to include the Speed Cameras for the MINI. Here is a section of that file: I have highlighted the parts concerning the MINI and in RED is the code that needs to be added. It appears that on starting the menu the car knows its type and hence goes to a certain menu tree. Whereas BMW would go to GRP-2 the MINI would go to GRP-3 and hence miss the 104 category as it pulls line 80 instead of 70. Hope that helps you - it now works for me :) #TPD-GRP <group-id> <category-id> TPD-GRP 0 1 2 3 4 TPD-GRP 1 9000 TPD-GRP 2 70 200 300 500 600 700 800 TPD-GRP 3 80 200 300 500 600 700 800 TPD-GRP 4 90 200 300 500 600 700 800 TPD-GRP 70 104 551 557 7522 750 5540 7897 TPD-GRP 80 104 552 7522 750 5540 7897 TPD-GRP 90 104 7522 750 5540 7897 553 TPD-GRP 200 4581 9999 4170 7510 4444 4100 4482 4493 4013 7897 7389 TPD-GRP 300 5000 8200 7994 7990 8060 120 9121 TPD-GRP 500 7011 5800 TPD-GRP 600 7992 7947 790 7996 7389 TPD-GRP 700 8410 7947 110 7996 2084 TPD-GRP 800 103 101 100 102 #TPD-CAT <cat-id> <is-a-group> <category text> TPD-CAT 1 Y NATIONAL IMPORTANCE TPD-CAT 2 Y BMW TPD-CAT 3 Y MINI TPD-CAT 4 Y ROLLS-ROYCE TPD-CAT 70 Y Car |

Just quick note to say I downloaded the 28 files yesterday and burnt a disc last night. Just been on a 300 mile round trip to Hartford and the new disc works perfectly, the Speed Camreras are mostly present, (the one outside my house is missing!!) and I can select addresses by postcode. So very many thanks for an excellent and informative thread.

Gonna try the emule link posted earlier. If any one has links to the multi-parted files then please report back :driver: |

Advice
Any one know where I can get a copy of the 2006-02 DVD Data with the POI (Camera's); I've looked in the normal locations on P2P but can't find them. If someone could share a torrent link that would be fab.
;) |
Sorry to bump this, but like jim, does any one have a copy or a link/torrent etc. I've just bought a mk4 and would like the sepped camera function :)

hi can anybody help with a link to get the europe 2006-2 DVD. ive just got a MK4 unit and haven't got a maps DVD? any help please...... Thanks
|
For those of you looking for these files, and who PM me requesting them:
These files were removed from Rapidshare following complaints. I am not re uploading them as they are just removed again. I may add an updated camera file to the Euro 2007-1 when I get it and make it available. I will post on this board if and when that happens. Chris |
Hi Chris If you do put the 2007-1 with camera files on here that would be excellent.

Hi all,
Ive successfully downloaded the 2007-1 (3.6GB) file from bt, however they come down as serveral numbered files (hks-bmw-high-2007-1.rXX) - what do I do to stick 'em on the DVD? Do I simply burn them directly (using ImgBurn/Roxio) or do I need to compile them first somehow?? - Am new to the BMW DVD DIY thing but very techie otherwise! Thanks all PS I downloaded the German bt as I couldnt find the english version. |
u need a program called winrar, after you've installed winrar click any of the hks-bmw-high-2007.rxx files and the image file will be in there. extract the file to a folder and burn the image. i used alcohol 120% and burned at 2x speed and it works fine.
|
B - Thanks - it was looking at me in the face!
All done now and Image working fine! Now, just to figure out how to drop in the Speed Cameras! |
Updated version of DVD
The cost of updating my 2004-2 version from BMW is £200+
Do you know of a cheaper way of getting an update |
