And you have enabled the perspective mode by holding the button for few seconds and selecting perspective view?
And you have also changed the view mode under GPS navigation?

Taken from another earlier post:-

If you have 4-1/70 or higher, you need to enable the Perspective feature by doing a one-time setting change in the nav computers service menu. Do this:

* Push the "MENU" button to get to the the main menu.
* Scroll to the "SETTINGS" menu selection and click the knob to select it.
* Push and hold the "MENU" button for about 8 seconds to enter the GPS Service Menu.
* Scroll beyond the bottom to a 2nd page, where you will get the Perspective option.
* Click the knob on the Perspective option to select it. - Now you will be able to select Perspective within the navigation map view.

As far as I know, TMC only works on European models. Do a search. It's been mentioned before.

What software version do you need to get the perspective mode? I held down the menu button and a screen came up that had only one page on it and nothing about a perspective mode. I have an 2005 X5. Also, how do you find out what software version you have?

What version does your software read in top right corner of "settings" screen?

After updating to ver 28 it will read 4-1/80.

I was stuck regarding this step as well. Funny how one little detail can make all the difference. Installed V27 successfully. Didn't see the need for V28 as the BMW Instructions say there is nothing new in this version for X5.

I did it last night and it worked like a charm. I used "Winace" to decompress the files and "Alcohol 120%" to write it to a CD. I already have the Nav. DVD 2006.2 but I will probably try to download and update to 2007.1. The street that my new house is being built on is not on 2006.2 even though the street has been there about a year and a half. Hopefully 2007.1 has it on there.
