Firmware CD ejects
Hi All, I have been trying to update my Nav. I have followed the instructions from the forum but it's a no go....
My problem is the CD which has the V27 updates just ejects over and over. What am I doing wrong? |

I had similar issues with the V28 update I did today, I just downloaded the ISO version and burnt with Nero. It worked on the first try.

I would also suggest to anybody who has V27 or V27.1 installed that they forget about the V28 update. There are a couple of fixes on it which supposedly cure hardware problems such as SatNav flaps that don't open, etc. Unless you have such a problem, the risk of killing your SatNav & a £1200.00+ replacement cost is quite simply not worth mucking around on your PC trying to burn a good V28 CD.... Take it from me. V28 has no SatNav software mapping improvements over V27/27.1!!! - Don't play unless you've got loads of money to pay BMW to fix a dead computer.

Thanks for the replies. I have a MkIV Nav. Slowest speed is 8x tried Nero 6.6, Alcohol 120, Image burn the CD-R's I used were high quality.

Worked finally.... Seems the burner in my home PC was the problem.
At work I have a Dell PC which burnt the image using Alcohol 120% no problems. At home I have a HP writer 400c which won't use Alcohol 120% to burn the image, hence I made a few coasters!! Good thing too... I need them the put my beer on. I think the lesson learnt is, if you can browse the contents of the CD after you have imaged it then it is OK. In my case after it burnt the image(home PC) the CD appeared to be empty but, clearly you could see it had been written to. The update worked a treat. |
