Updating Navigation Software - Help Needed
Hello All,
I am new to the forum and my car is a few months new to me. I would like to update the Navigation system software. I have downloaded v28 but I had a question before I put it in the car. Is there an upgrade path or is every version inclusive of the previous release? Do I need v27.1 first? I don't know what version I am running but I don't have perspective view on my nav. Where can I locate the version number? The only information I have is that it is running 4-1/50 and the DVD disk is 2005-2. I know I have to update the maps after I update the software but I am trying to make sure I am not going to screw up my car and then I have to make a trip to the dealer. BTW, it is a 2004 X5 4.4 production date 10/03. Your help is greatly appreciated!! |
You can just go straight to the latest OS release disk-- V28.
It is good to get the current map disk too, but not critical. I assume that your car probably has a 2002 map DVD. That will work fine with the latest OS, but it is nice to get the latest roads and POI database. |
Also, the stlr told me yest, a new update out in about two weeks.FYI.

Wow, that is a big surprise. They usually release updates in about 6 month cycles. The times that they produced interim releases, there were some major bugs in the 6 month release.

Brian-bmw,
Thanks for the help. I did my installation and everything went well. The software version now says 4-1/80. I do have one more question. Is the perspective view a function of the software or the maps? I don't see perspective view as an option at all on my nav system. Maybe I am just missing it. I placed an order for the 2007-1 disks yesterday from Navteq. Thanks! |
Scratch that. I did a quick search on the forum and found perspective view!!
Thanks All |
