Mk4 / v28 navigation surprises after VR activated

I noticed a couple of subtle changes to my Mk4 / v28 / 2007-1 Euro set-up after a local dealer finally completed a retrofit of voice recognition to my X3 BT (5th gen ULF):

1 - when I say "petrol", "hotel" or "restuarant at current location" I get a new format results display including accurate directional arrows for each line item. Shame I can't hack the ULF to recongise the word "cameras"! This works quite well taking current driving direction into account. Why doesn't this work for ordinary searches?

2 - POI icons for the above searches are pulled from the v28 installation, not from the DVD as for manual searches via nav controls. I customised only the DVD icons on 2007-1 and was surprised to see the originals appearing after a voice activiated search. The same data is being used for the search.

3 - Although the VR is coded for UK English ("Petrol", not "Gas") - it insists on metres and km for scale changes and does respond to miles or yards.

I don't yet have VR but I would be very interested to know what was involved in fitting/activating it.

Do you nav fitted?
