Same here. Any idea on how to enable RDS? I have both PTY and RDS boxes checked on the setting screen.

Go into service mode, ensure radio area = EUROPE and not OCEANIA.

It will work better when in EUROPE mode.

So how do i get into this menu? is it the hold menu while in the set menu? and where is it located in that menu. This is really annoying me because my friend was in my car and he has a 4.8x5 and he was trying to get rds to work and it didnt so im embarassed :(

Switch radio on, press and hold SELECT and wait.

Or:

BM53 with Widescreen board monitor:
• Turn on the radio.
• Within 8 seconds, press the “INFO” button.
• From the info screen select RDS
• Press and hold the BM control knob for at least 8 seconds.
• Scroll through functions using the station < > search buttons.
• Turn off the radio to end the service mode

I'm in USA mode, but no RDS displayed on any stations.

Your radio may not be RDS capable, or the RDS may be turned off. Have you been through the available options in the Service Menu?

Yup. RDS and PTY are enabled...

Then maybe you have no stations in your area using RDS, or your RDS part of your radio is faulty.

I get all the same RDS stations fine in my e46 3er...so it must be RDS in the radio.

Yes, that's what I would conclude as well. You can replace the radio, or send your faulty one to the manufacturer for repair (Philips or Becker).

Don't ask BMW: they don't repair the unit, they just replace it.
