Jochen,
great job. I can tell that the recode works great. If you use a widescreen Monitor and a BM24 Radio, the Splitscreen Radio work but then your INFO and SELECT doesn't work. gr. Appy |
i can't find the language code for dutch.
i've tried to locate the language code in the instrument cluster, but can't find it. |
Get language code from instrument cluster

I have used this computer software and it works to the great one.
Unfortunately the keys infos don't work, have I been wrong to do something? |
Sorry, I don't know how to get the INFO and SELECT buttons working. It's coded somewhere else, if someone knows please tell me.

I thank you for your help.
Today I have made different tests, and at the end I/you/they have succeeded in making to work the button info. A problem has remained me..., the split of the radio BM24 doesn't work. I have tried to declass to the v21 and to program again the information telematicses and then to the v28 but nothing. Is this normal? |

Also I think the same thing, however if with the NAVCODER I program the mk4 as if there is the bm54 the split it works but the button info doesn't work.
The same thing happens if I declass to the v21 or to the v26, the split works and doesn't work the button info. How do you explain yourself this? |
Hmmm... interesting - I have a friedn with Mk4 + BM24 radio, I will try on his car :-)
|
Hi,
this is correct, used navcoder: coded: bm24 old generation radio in navcoder with the BM24 and the 16:9 Monitor and INFO and SELECT works, than you don't have radio splitscreen. if you coded the same configuration with BM54 selected in the navcoder then you got radiosplitscreen, but the INFO and SELECT are not working. with the BM24 and the 4:3 Monitor than the radio split works. coded : bm54 new generation radio in navcoder gr. Jochen, where is the best place to tap into the i-bus?

Hi,
i use the blue connector from the TV module. pin 1 +12v pin 12 massa pin 3 ibus Appy |
I use X400 or X322 - both easy to access in my Japanese E39 (quite different to Euro E39)

Can you tell me if navcoder will work via usin Rolf Reseler's IBUS interface? Is so do i need to enable the RTS....and how can i do this as this is automatically done via the carx software. thanks in advance and keep up the good work!!! jan |
Yes, Resler's USB I-Bus interface is recognised by the PC as a COM port.
NavCoder looks for all available COM ports from 1 to 16. It works. NavCoder doesn't care about RTS |
I have seen that inside the navcoder there is also the bmw e90.
Can the language also be changed on the e90? If he is able, as? |
I am not sure, I have never tried.
I added all the vehicle types that were described in the software specs. But I have never tried on the e90 Note that if you do try, you'll need a copy of the OS disc to reload the languages. |
I have tried but nothing doesn't happen.

Atendo with anxiety his/her test on the BM54 of his/her friend.
Thanks |
Loss of ETA
KiwiJochen,
What is the latest on the loss of ETA functionality on MK4 after using NavCoder? Is there a fix yet? I've seen a few post at bimmerboard.com but navigating threads at that site is a pain in the butt. Do you mind keeping us updated here? |

They were fitted to E39s with 4:3 displays But to help people I have made a test version of NavCoder, where all 8 bits (0 to 7) can be set, to see if there are some undocumented settings that influence arrival time. I cannot see anywhere where I can upload files on this forum, so I have it on the bimmerboard forum: http://www.bimmerboard.com/members/k...vCoderTest.zip Actually I just see that the users on bimmerboard found the solution - you do NOT set 'Show arrival time' on the E39 with Mk4. Then everything is fine. I actually think that the 'Show Arrival Time' is maybe only for cars made up to 09/03 - ie: for those fitted with Mk1, Mk2 or Mk3 nav. Maybe "PU 09/03" means "production until 09/03" So for Mk4 nav do NOT select 'Show arrival time', then everything works |

FYI,
Attached is a pinout diagram of the CD connector that shows which pins supply the +12V, Gnd, and Ibus connections. This is from the hacktheibus yahoo group. KiwiJochen, Maybe you should bundle this up in your zip file since I see some people have asked this question. |

But I'll re-write the physical connection part, and include wire colours, so that people can find the iBus easily. Gotta love the Japanese E39, the iBus is on the nav connector which is immediatly visible and accessible just by opening the CD changer access panel. |
Version 1.2 has been posted.

NavCoder V1.2
I've used NavCoder with great succes and fun but I've got a question.
I can re-code MK3 or MK4 systems for use with 4x3 and 16x9 monitors but I like to set up a system for use with a Monochrome Navigation Radio, is it possible to add this option to it? In other words a option for Display type, or so. Also is it possible to make it read back what the settings are within a system thru NavCoder? |
Got the I-BUS interface and Navcoder SW but what steps do I need to follow?
Hi All,
Is there a sequence of steps that you'd recommend I observe when I hook up the Resler's I-BUS interface to my 2005 325i? What I have in mind is for instance, do I have to first disconnect battery and attach USB interface and laptop (I am thinking to corresponding CD Changer plug pins) and then turn the ingnition key on (to what position?). Or, do I leave the battery on and turn ignition key off and plug the device? I am thinking of running NavCoder 1.2 to code my car after my OEM navigation retrofit. Any help/guidance will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Peter |
Power up the adapter first then plug in to USB port.
I just connect my adapter to any 12V power source I can find, you don't need to disconnect the car battery |

Wish I knew how, but I don't. I know how to fudge a mono nav unit so it works on colour, but it's a fuidge, not a proper re-code. Quote:
