Mk3 OS CD - what is the diff between...

...these three directories:

Mk3\0103
Mk3\0107
Mk3\0116
Mk3\0127

All these apart from 0107 have OS software:
BMWC01S\ (colour OS)
BMWM01S\ (monochrome OS)

Who knows what the different directories mean (0103, 0107, etc) ??

The interesting thing is that the Mk3 splash logo is in the file usw_load:

Mk3\0103\BMWC01S\app_sw\usw_load

The usw_load is the same identical file in all of these directories:

Mk3\0103\BMWC01S\app_sw\
Mk3\0116\BMWC01S\app_sw\
Mk3\0127\BMWC01S\app_sw\

You can extract and replace the logo with GifExtractor, I have created new usw_load files with different images - ready to try

But first attempt looked like it crashed the SW load process on my Mk3, I was scared I had broken the Mk3 - but I managed to get to boot up again with an oriignal OS disk

Anybody else had a go at this?

Jochen

I think the logo feature is not working on the MK3 computers. As far as i can remember there are several people that tried and failed on MK3. The MK4 does accept this without problems.
If i am not completely wrong, the different directories are for the different languages.

Best regards,
Markus

Not the languages

No they are not language dependent.

They are slightly different versions of the OS, seems to be for different vehicles or maybe Mini / RR etc

But I'd like confirmation...

I think its for difrent versons of hardware. Mk3, for example, may have 2 or 4 flash memory

Yes, the number is the hardware version.

My Mk3 was v1.16 hardwar, so loaded OS from Mk3\0116\BMWC01S\app_sw\

You can see the HW version in the diagnostics menu
