v28 upgrade - Feet vs. Yards - Help!

Hello.
I went from v28 to v27.1 back to v28 and now my MK4 GPS reads yards instead of feet. How can I get it back to yards? I've changed all the other settings to my preferences, just this one is left...
Thanks in advance!

Two ways that I know of - go to your local dealer & have them recode the Nav,
or, try kiwijochen's NavCoder software & reset the parmameters yourself.

In case you don't know, being in "Euro" mode (as you are now), you don't have to deal with the "Accept" screen. If you get your Nav reset back to "USA" mode, you'll have the Accept screen back (but with V28, it does go away automatically in 5 seconds or so).

You kicked your nav computer into "Euro Mode." This is actually the preferred mode of operation for most folks who own MKIII and MKIV nav computers. These are some of the other benefits of being in Euro Mode:
  • You get rid of the accept screen (big benefit)
  • Short distances will be in yards instead of feet (benefit to those who relate better to football field distances)
  • You lose the Emergency function on the main menu (slight loss, but it is available elsewhere)
  • You get the Route Magnet feature (kind of cool for setting way-points)
  • You lose the vehicle ID (VIN, model, etc.) information stored in the computer (I have no idea if this even matters)

Main thing is the feet/yards swap for me. I like losing the disclaimer screen. I also lost the Aux Vent and Emergency which is ok.

What is the Route Magnet feature? Thx.

You can get your aux ventilation back by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes and then reconnecting it.

Route Magnet is a cool way to select a route by defining a "way point" on a desired route. I use it occasionally.

Route-magnet is the ability to select interim waypoints.

eg: you can say "I want to go from A to B via C, D and E"

Without route magnet, you cannot choose interim locations

Just got a new card-reader (the unit in the back), - how do I se what version it is?

The old one had an nicer design and were able to show "Perspective", - the new one has more colours on the map, but looks rather poor i the design - most obvious on the pointer whch used to have e smooth exclusive look - but now is thin and blue.

Where do I get the newest up-date (maybe as a download).

Thanks in advance.

Cheers
