Making a backup disk
 

In simple terms what is the easiest way to copy my existing DVD sat nav disk?

I have used DVD Decripter and then wrar to extract the files. This seems to be taking forever and I'm not sure I'm wasting my time! I will then use imageburn to create the disk.

Am I on the right track?

Use Emule or Limewire (Use Google) to download a working copy of "UltraISO". Then use UltraISO to create an ISO image of your CD/DVD Map Disk onto your HDD. Use Alcohol 120% to burn the HDD image onto a CD-R or DVD+R at the slowest speed possible to you. I would suggest you use a RW disk until you get a working copy!:thumbup:

You cannot just extract the files as the BMW Nav Computer will NOT recognise a Windows bootable disk. UltraISO produces an exact replica of your Map Disk..... I have copied over 40 Map DVD's & can assure you that this works.

There must be a way of copying a original disk ? cant you do a copy whole disc through nero of some thing ?

Or, use the 30-day free trial version of alcohol 120%.

The key is you want to replicate the "image", not just the files.

And now tested in the X and working on the first burn.

Used Imageburner on the slowest speed and a TDK DVD-R.

Backup Nav DVD
 

I use a backup DVD exclusively in my car to preserve the orig.
Used DVDDecrypter to read the image to the HDD in .ISO format, then
used the same to write it to DVD-R. Extremely simple process, no mucking
around with files etc.

BTW there is a US maps 2007.1 DVD out there on torrents... haven't tried it but it should work ;)
