How to burn a navigation dvd?
Hi guys
does someone knows how I could burn a PERFECT copy of a navigation dvd for my Mk4? I tried with Nero B.Rom but the copy was unreadable... Maybe with CloneCd? If I try with Clone which settings with? Thnks |
May be copy protected.http://www.directionsmag.com/article...e_id=433&trv=1 On this site this was a post that talked about this issue. Don't know if it applies though.
We purchased a 2003 Land Rover Discovery for use as a production vehicle (we're a TV production company). When I discovered that the CD is used "live" and not downloaded to a hard drive, I tried to make a backup - but the CD is copy protected. We called NavTech and they said they copy protect the discs so we can't buy one and install it in a fleet of vehicles (our "fleet" is the one Discovery). Recently the CD became physically damaged, as I'd feared. There have been NO DATA UPDATES SINCE 2003 (it's July of 2006!), and NavTech wants $199 to replace the disc with the same data we already have, even if we return the damaged one for exchange! This site is full of people attempting to make copies. Some have said they were successful but no mention of success with BMW. http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=137886 |

I tried today to make a copy using DVD Decrypter, it all apperaed to work fine, after a few miles the screen went off and returned to a very light blue colour. The menu was there for tv, phone and obc but no nav option.I have seen this screen before a while back but BMW say they replaced all the nav equipment under warranty.
I replaced the disc back to the original, it took a while to get a fix on my position and went to the place where the nav went bad, seems ok now. Anyone experienced this, especially the "blue" screen? |
Hi gwc,
The light blue colour in the backup display driver (tv module). This has kicked in because your nav computer crashed, Sounds like the nav computer did not like the copied disc... Have you had trouble with copied discs before? What speed did you do the read/write at? |
Hi ccfj1, yep, your right mate, turned out it was my dvd writer on the way out, spent hours with 10 different programs trying to sort it:rolleyes: , bit like the car breaking down and not checking if you have any fuel in;).
Working now:2thumbs: |
nice one :)
