newbi please help
 
hi all i have a bmw ci se 2000 and have been looking to upgrade my maps for my sat nav the problem is i havent really got a clue. ive been reading some posts and i havemanaged to work out that i may need to update my software first mine is sw 3-2/10. all i really want to do is update my maps as they are out of date.

any help would be much appreciated. thanks

Get yourself an OS disk - they can be downloaded from many places - and update your software.

Your's is very old, current version is 3-2/63

Make sure the CD image is Mode2 and that verify that the CD is burnt as Mode2 (Nero infotool tells you) BEFORE you insert the OS CD.

The MkIII nav will lock up with a Mode1 CD and cause you headaches to fix it.

hi, thanks for the reply so i need to find the os version 3-2/63? then i burn it onto disc using nero? then do i need to get the updated maps? sorry if i ask stupid questions its just that i dont want to balls it up.

hi all im back right ive downloaded v28 software and clone cd now i think im supposed to burn it to cd using mode 2? after i have updated the software where can i get hold of the latest gb maps? any help would be much appreciated.

Hi here is where i am up to ive read through things on this and other forums and well here i go i have updated my system to v28 software as i was told the software i had was very old i then bought a copy of 2006 maps as the ones i had were 2001 the maps were on 2 discs one said no tmc and the other said tmc can somebody tell me what the difference is? also now i have updated the software i cant pick up the satalites? also can somebody tell me if i can use the postcode search rather than putting the address in if so how do i do this?

any help would be much much appreciated as ive been trying for ages......

TMC = traffic Message Channel, part of the RDS service.

TMC codes must be stored on the map disc for the map area.

Obviously, you have one map disc that supports TMC and has the codes, and the other doesn't

Maps are found here. http://www.navteq.com/ Anything else would be illegal.

hi there, since my first post ive bought new maps but i really need to know how to do the postcode search and why after updating the software cant i get any satelites.
