Mk3 Not sure what to do?

I had a working Mk3 but only the split screen not working properly,so I decided to reload OS again after a member having similiar problems.....I wish I hadn't as its crashed the system,it it boots up with this will take 6mins to install 15mins latter same screen and no progress bar.....tried to eject cd with no luck so had to remove with cog method, burnt another CD at 1X mode2/form1 connected Mk3 up with no cd and system boots with a black screen occasionally flashes.Inserted new burnt CD same thing happens sits there with no progress bar and again cd is stuck.Have i really stuffed this time round?

I dont notice the red led on when there is power to it only when a cd is in there..dont know what else to try,the navigation menu dosent appear on my monitor.
I have made several copies of disk but the nav still does not boot.....the disk spins for a while then stops and the light flashes and the disc wont eject........I think might be worth burning on different media.
I downloaded v26 and v27 and unzipped it and used image tool to make a mode2/form1 disk.

Well finally got it up and running again not sure how.....disk booted up and in about 3 secs it was done. Now is there a specific sequence that needs to follow e.g doors locked unlocked key in ignition turn to posi1....because I think thats all i did different. After all of that my split screen doesnt work with the radio only on gps it splits the screen, could this be normal? I'm not game to touch it again.Sorry for my posts being everyhere as I was posting as i was doing stuff Im off to bed now its 2.30am gotta get up for work.

You must have had bad CDs. No red LED lit = no OS software loaded in nav comp.

If you have the 4:3 display and a Mk3 then split screen only works with the Professional RDS tuner. It does not work with the Business RDS tuner.
Check what tuner you have - cycle throught the FM modes, if you see a mode labelled "FMD" then you have a Professional RDS tuner.

I have heard but have not confirmed myself that radio-split screen with the 16:9 widescreen mode may not work.

Also, use my NavCoder app and make sure the nav is properly coded for splitscreen mode (that's the Radio type setting)..

I have a Mk-IV, 16:9 colour nav system, and I had no radio split when I bought the car. In spite of a picture in the nav system manual of o 16:9 screen showing radio split, still the dealer would only show ignorance and insist that it was not possible, not an option, not necessarily available for my car ... I finally sorted it out following instructions found in this same web:

http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/x5/n...s-upgrade.html

I don’t know if these may work for a Mk-III. Given your recent experience, I would suggest you don't mess around downgrading and upgrading, but follow KiwiJochen advice and use his NavCoder application to set your type of radio, if you have access to your iBus.

I would think that its coded correctly? as split screen appears in menu and splits screen in gps mode......is it worth downgrading then upgrading OS any special procedure to download?,Im a professional disc remover now.

Do you have an I-Bus interface? If so use KiwiJochen NavCoder application. If not you can build one. Or check IBUS stuff on http://www.reslers.de

I warn you I can not assure the downgrading-upgrading methos works for Mk-IIIs.

Downgrading is just as easy as upgrading. Follow exactly the same steps and take the same precautions. Just use a firmware disk with a lower version.

It is only done because you want to reload the same versión you already have. The system will not load it becauses it identifies it as the version already loaded. You need thus to load a different version first (downgrade) just to be able to reload the same version you had to start with.

But BEWARE: Downgrading will have some secondary effects you may not be happy with. In USA specs unit you will have the system changed to EURO specs: you will lose your accept screen and you will have feets changed to yards. An no backing from there except through the dealer. You may also lose your telematics info. So you will be needing your I-Bus interface at the end.

And a smart thought: If you can still upgrade, there is no need for you to downgrade.

Hope it helps.

When you say I could loose everything including the accept screen...that doesnt bother me I'm in australia so we use metres rather than yards and feet.....does this mean that using navcoder would bring everything back to where it should be? including the metric unit?I have a I-Bus interface so coding is not an issue.

Thanks

Thanks

Yes, NavCoder can code everything on the nav.
You can set Region=Australia which is possibly the correct setting for you :-)

I couldnt resist......I downgraded upgraded and recoded and now split screen works a treat,I thought the accept screen meant to disappear...it did until i upgraded and recoded but who cares I'm happy now.

Thanks guys for your help.

Use NavCoder to set the region to other than US to eliminate Accept Screen In Europe, there is no Accept Screen. Not sure about Australia because I never tried!

Does it matter if the region is set differnt to where I am.....any dramas with units eg yards, feet, instead of metres.
