tv amplifier question
 

Guys, I just received the TV amplifier 65 25 8 368 210. But I wonder how and where can I install it on my E46 M3 2002/07. My car already equiped with NAV system, TV tuner and analog/digital video module, since the tv reception is very bad. So I hope the tv amplifier will solve the problem. Please help.

This is a very interesting part. Realoem only lists it as compatible with E46's (US and Euro) and evidently it connects somewhere around the on board monitor. I wonder if it is at all compatible with other models? Let us know how well it works.

This connects to your car's diversity antenna amp that will be on the C-Pillar, if you have a coupe.

The ETK is a bit misleading by showing this in the same diagram as the display. It actually mounts nowhere close to the display.

Have you installed it in your car? How much does it help? Any idea why it's not listed for any other BMW's other than the E46's?

I have no idea where and how to install it. It is still with me, if someone here been installed it please enlighten me.

They list them for all models (E38, E39, E46, and E53). For some reason, BMW uses different antenna amp part numbers for each car, but I do not know the difference. My car came with the antenna amps, so I do not know how much different the reception is without the amps. They are very easy to install. The simply screw into the C-Pillar, and they have a little wire pigtail that connects to the diversity antenna amp. Then the TV antenna cable simply connects to the TV antenna amp.

Very interesting. According to the ETK and Realoem, they are shown in the parts graphic, but the part numbers are not specified for the antennas for anything other than E46's. So according to the way the ETK works, it basically means they do not apply to those cars. In any case, my curiosity is if you retrofit a BMW tv tuner setup in your car (X5) and it doesn't come with a tv amplifier should you get this part and install it anyway?

On a car with factory TV, there is a short lead fitted (soldered) to the rear windscreen which then plugs in to the TV amplifier, as per the circuit diagram you have.

You need to take the C pillar side panel off, and maybe remove the rear parcel shelf cover, to see if the short TV antenna lead exists on your car.
