NAV menu --> CODE option
I often see on the boardmonitor top MENU the option [ CODE ] in pictures posted here on this board.
What is this? Is this some sort of anti-theft engine start blocker thingy-me-jig? Is this a typical US option? Can this be enabled or disabled by (iBus-)software? Cheers, |
It can be enabled or disabled by you. Check your manual for a complete explination.

So, I guess it's a US feature than, b'cos I can't find anything in the navigation manual about this option.
I've installed the navigation systems myself in two of them, only my 328i came with a mk2 nav system and is now also been upgraded to mk4 with widescreen. In this manual (the one from the mk2 and the only one I've got) is nothing about this CODE feature. Cheers, |
yes, it's the engine immobilizer. you set a code when you exit a car, and must input the same code to mobilize the car
|
But is it something that is allways present in the top menu, or do you need to enable it first, via dealer or iBus programming or maybe even a regional/legal option for US only or so.
In my nav top menu the whole [CODE] option is not even displayed. So my guess is, it's need to be enabled first within the software. Cheers, |
:worthless: So take a few of the screen then we will know exactly what your talking about. :thumbup:

It is inhereently linked to the engine immobiliser system, and the Bordcomputer. It was intorduced into the BMW EWS system from 1994. You must have the immobiliser and the On-board Computer for CODE to be available. My 540 has CODE and all the 7-series V8 cars do as well. I don't think it was ever available on the 3-series...?? |
Thanks again, Jochen!! :2thumbs:
That make sence, pitty it isn't available on the E46 onboard computer/EWS. Cheers, BTW; Have you ever looked into the posibility of programming key-memory optoins? |

I need to do some analysis using the BMW DIS tester - and use a BMW 'friend' to help me - Jochen |
Great stuff!!!
It always helps to know somebody at the source! Need testing, throw me a PM. Can you compile/pipe NavCoder to PocketPC? Cheers, |
