re coding your sat nav /tv function

Hi all

AM new to this site from northern ireland, and i have a e46 with sat nav and tv function, i noticed their might be a way of enabling tv on the move, this would be a feature i would like as i have two screens in the rear and if possible could someone explain how i do this, in layman terms

http://www.xoutpost.com/navigation-sy...eleased-2.html

i took most of my info of here, and my understanding is that i need to download this onto my laptop, then what? do i need to buy a special lead or would any usb lead do as long as i can locate the the wire / cable that i be connecting too.

guys and gals very cool site am glad i found it, much information which will indeed come in handy, as they say knowledge is power

regards all]

Hi Ronnie,

Navcoder is the software that you need (you have the correct link above)

To use the software you need a laptop (with software installed) and an I-bus interface, you have some choice here, you can

a: make one (from the diagram in the zippped install file)
b: buy one, from either

http://www.eedesignkits.com/ibus_kit.html

or

http://www.reslers.de/IBUS/payment.html

I made mine and it works very well, (after a blown transistor or 2).

Then you connect your circuit up to the cd changer interface lead (3 pin, its located in the boot and requires some trim removal to get to) and your laptop, thats it follow the menus on navcoder.

Hope this helps

John

P.S this only works on factory installed (or OEM retrofit) SatNav & TV modules.

thanx for the reply ,so i will need a i bus to do this.... mmm am not a tech minded person, i probably blow something up in the cars electrics, i have to do more reading and research of this subject before i have a go at it

Probably best to buy one of the i-bus interfaces, then its a straight forward plug into the cd changer port, and run navcode, easy peasy.

Good luck :)
