Can someone tell me what route Magnet is pls??? I have V29.1 and I never understud what it is.

When you have a destination programmed into your nav system, you can use Route Magnet to alter the course in order to route around an area you want to avoid or to route toward an area you want to pass by.

A handy feature when there is road construction you want to avoid (something the nav system wouldn't be aware of)

How do you use it?

Enter distination and plan the route, then select the Route Magnet option adn you get a map position entry screen, move the cursor arround to where you want to go and select the position.

It's pretty poor really, if there is not a route that can take you there without any significant delay then it just ignores it.

Thanks for the info, but I'm confused. When you say enter the destination and plan the route, what do you mean by "plan the route." Also where is the route magnet option located (on what screen)? I also don't understand what moving the cursor around will do. Can you send a snapshot of the process? I can't find anything like "route magnet" in the Nav manuel either.

Right now I enter a destination (usually an address already in my address book), the fastest route option is the default and I rarely change it, and then start the guidance. The only option I know of that can re-route me is the feature where you select the number of miles you want the nav system to essentially take you off course to bypass a delay; which honeslty never worked very well for me.

"plan the route" as in get the Nav computer to calculate the route to your destination.

The Roue Magnet option is on the 'popup' type menu that you get if you press the right hand knob while viewing the map while guidence is active. It's only available whne in Euro mode. The way you select a 'magnet' is the same as the way the 'Destination Input Map' works, you move a cursor to a location and the store that location.

Ahh ha! That answers my question... it's only available in Euro mode. No wonder I had no idea what you were talking about. Anyway, thanks for the advice!
