2007-2 High Europe

Wondered if anyone out there was running the latest version of BMW nav software? I'm currently running 2007-1 and have had a number of incidents where addresses have not been found, and I'm wondering if they're available in 2007-2?

I've downloaded Google Maps to my mobile and see that map data is also supplied by Navteq. However, on Google maps, ALL the addresses I had difficulty with are visible. So I'm just wondering if the latest update finds these addresses also? If anyone could try the following I'd be grateful:

TF3 4NT - Ironmasters Way Telford (found via p/code in Google, nothing in 2007-1)
S21 3EY - St Matthews Close, Renishaw, Sheffield (found by address not p/code in Goolge, nothing in 2007-1)
MK17 8LX - Wavendon Tower, Wavendon (found by p/code Google, nothing 2007-1)

Final question - are you entitled to any free updates from BMW? My car is only 9 weeks old, and the salesman said I'd get 2007-2 as soon as it was released but I'm not sure if he was telling the truth.

Cheers
Paul

Not sure about 2007-2, not got it yet.

The first 2 addresses are not on 2007-1, but the 3rd is. It's under Wavendon Gate, not Wavendon.

Something you may not know, when entering a road name go back one from A (scroll anti clockwise), you then get the option to search the entire country for a road name rather then just the current town, quite often the road is not in the 'town' you expect.

This drives me absolutely nuts to be honest.

When 2006-1 came out, my home address had been incorrectly referenced (wrong road name) and many roads around my locale were wrong. I contacted navteq using their responder and eventually had an email back saying that they had verified that the addresses WERE wrong and would apply an ammendment.

I buy 2007-1 and lo and behold they are STILL wrong.

It's shoddy considering I know that the TomTom mapping is correct; We pay a 'rolls royce' price for a 'lada' product as far as the BMW map disks are concerned.

I would like to be able to check the updates before I purchase - there ought to be an on-line facility to see revisions so you can see if you really want to fork out £200+ (legal dealer price!) for what is a very out of date item.

I suggest you try contacting NavTeq via their report form and see what you get back from them.

edit: has anyone looked at the mapping data to see if it is possible to enter our own changes? - that would be cool.

Yes, I have.

The map data format is very complex and proprietary.

To edit the data requires disassembling a 4GB file (one file over 4GB in size!), finding the right data point, understanding the parameters, changing then recompiling

Basicall, its a job that only VDO Siemnes or the map data suppliers (NavTech in your country) can do.

Very, very, very dificult.
