can i use nero to burn the image??? after i burn it, do i just insert this into the slot of the headunit deck behind the screen?? then what i do ??? do i have to press any buttons or hold down anything ??

im pretty sure its more detail than that...

ps does the image files on megaupload link work for the australia version of the satlite nav system ???

someone please tell me or show me a noob proof step by step..

cheers

yeah you can, you might have to rename the.mdf file to .iso and burn it that way. you need to put the CD in the Mk4 nav unit in the boot. The screen will go black for about 20 seconds before anything happens so dont panic :)

it worked fine for me 00 330i and a 04 M3, both Australian cars.

someone had some excellent instructions on here of how to do it, search for alcohol 120 and it should pop up. I will search too and when i find it i will post it up if you haven't found it already.

yes in the boot mate,

ImgBurn @ 1x is the way to go.

Once you have downloaded the v29.zip file, unzip it (using winzip or similar) into a sub-dir on your pc.

Then use imgburn or similar (http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download) to burn a new
(blank) cd with the new downloaded firmware image.

eg:
install imgburn.
then run.
open v29.mds (from sub-dir).
select "mode write" from menu.
press write (cd image at bottom).

Burn at 1x speed, on good quaility cd.

When its finished writing your new firmware cd,
Goto the car open the drivers door,
Goto the dvd nav computer wait for the red led on the drive to go out,
Then press eject on drive,
Eject the map disc,
Switch ign to pos 1, leave door open.
Insert firmware disc into drive, follow instruction on nav screen.
Wait (approx 6 mins) till sat nav asks to eject cd and reboot.
Eject cd,
Confirm reboot.

Thats it.

Do not swich off ignition or close the door when doing the upgrade.

Hope this helps.

John
