Difference between Business and Professional navigation

What are the differences between Business and Professional navigations?

Mostly the radio tuner:

Business tuner = single tuner design
Professional tuner = twin-tuner design, allows reception of RDS-TP and RDS-TMC regardless of what station you are on, whereas the business unit must be tuned to the station that you wish to receive the RDS-TP and RDS-TMC info from.

Cycle through the FM modes:

FM1, FM2, FMA = Business RDS

FM, FMD = Professional RDS

Uh????

Professional == big Display on top of the dashboard with maps, and radio with no screen at all.

Business == no display on top, and radio with a small square ambar display, just with directions (e.g. a arrow and 'x' metres)

I think there is something mixed up.

In my X3 the following is installed:
Navi Professional - external monitor in the dashboard
Radio Business - single tuner (TMC just with the actual station possible)

So you can have Business or Professional at the Navi or Radio or a mix of it.

OK, guess I was mistaken.

So it is possible to have a Professional nav with a Business radio ... :-)

I've just double checked and my radio is "FM1,FM2,FMA", thus a single tuner, but I do have the professional navigation system with the screen on top. X3 2006.

Here in Germany, and as far as I know, the new radio with dual tunners was only available since the revamped 2007 X3. But I think I read something different in this forum for the USA models (meaning dual-tuners for pre-2007 X3's).

If your X3 has the colour-screen navigation, changing the radio module from Business RDS to Professional RDS is plug-and-play

Just purchase the right Professional RDS radio module and replace the existing Business RDS unit. Easy

I know ;) but I'm not touching (too much) the car yet, as it's leased. I'll do it in a couple of years in case I can buy back the car (I'd rather keep this X3 than opt for a USA-made-iDrive-enabled '10 X3)
