Hello Tom-X3, I have GPS in the car. The dvd (mkiv i think) is located in the left side of the trunk. Is posible to connect the resler interface to the GPS cable connected to the dvd?

I found the easiest was to do the following.

1) make up or solder up a lead with a 12v fused power receptacle plug to connect to the +ve & -ve on the Resler interface.
2) take a long single strand wire from the i-bust connection on the Resler interface.
3) on the TV tuner (or Nav computer), locate the i-bus wire, and poke the single strand wire into the back of the connector - you may need to free the connector from the latching cover, but that is easy as it just slides off.

You then just plug the power plug into the power receptacle in the X3's boot/trunk (on the RH side), boot up the PC etc, and there you go.

It is MUCH easier if you have a TV Tuner as the connector with the i-bus line in is the closest one and can be popped in and out in about 10 seconds.

I didn't use the CD Changer connector as I have the changer fitted which is in the centre console in the X3 and is a real pain to get out. With both the TV and Nav boxes so accessible under the LH side cover in the boot, it makes sense to go in there. I wanted to steer well clear of tapping into a +ve supply off any of the connectors just in case there was a short - as the X3 has a power socket in the boot, it makes it so much safer and you can disconnect the power very easily.

You are right trapdoor, it's what i did to connect my interface to the car. (But i have plug the cable, directly to the battery under the trunk.

I was going to do that, but a fused power lead came out of the parts box before any croc clips - so the easiest was the power plug :thumbup:

I looked at doing a similar connection in my E46, but to get at the back of anything was a complete nightmare - the X3 is so much easier.

E46 is a real pain to connecto to the ibus - i have not yet found an easy location in the E46...

E38, E39, X5, X3 - very accessible. E46 = pain. Z4 = bigger pain.

I installed the resler module permanantly in my E46 M3 by making a new lead. This plugs into th existing CD changer plug, and splits into two new plugs, one goes into my intravee, th eother into the resler. I just have to get the usb lead out of the cubby hole to us it.

For anyone who is interested, and to save the BMW parts department some work, these are the part numbers I used.

B61.13.6.931.929 Pin Terminal (connector to accept ibus plug from CD)
B61.13.0.006.664 Pin Contact (3 of these connect into above to make a lead)
B61.13.8.377.072 Plug (Same as ibus plug - I used two of these)
B61.13.0.006.663 Term (3 of these go into each of the plugs above - I got 6 of these)

I then soldered and taped the leads together. So the original ibus plugs in to the socket, and I have two ibus plugs, one for the intravee, and one for the resler board.http://www.intravention.co.uk/forum/...ify_inline.gif

I too am having difficulty in getting any IBUS activity.
I'm not sure if my Resler Interface has installed on the computer ok?

I am running on Vista Premium, I connected the Interface, the USB was detected and then it said was downloading drivers and hardware which it did and then said it was ready to use.

So I tried and kept getting time out messages off Navcoder, is it worth downloading from here?

The resler interface must be powered up first before you connect it to the PC

Then it should appear as a regular com port.
