Where can I check the version of the maps DVD?

Hi,

I bought a (copy of  a) 2007-2 DVD (professional) but when I checked the files on the DVD the date is all August 2006.... So I think I am tricked and actually got a 2006-2 DVD.

Is it possible to check the version of the DVD somewhere in the menu of the navigation unit in the car?

Thanx!

Nope, not available "on screen" as such, have a look in the eng.lsc file, at the top will have the copywrite date info at the top.

For the 2007-2 high disc it would be

# Language Specific Contents file
# Generated: Fri Mar 2 11:51:20 2007

Pro would be (this is for the 2007-1 disc i think, so if the date is higher then its 2007-2)

# Language Specific Contents file
# Generated: Wed Feb 14 20:25:39 2007

hope this helps

Ok, thank you for the fast reply.

When I open the file I get the following line:
# Language Specific Contents file
# Generated: Wed Aug 2 23:44:26 2006
# (c) Siemens VDO Car Communication, 2006

So obviously I have no 2007-2 but a 2006-2 at best :(

Yes you i think you are right, deffo not a 2007-1 or 2007-2.

Sorry for the bad news :(

How do you open the file? Is this someting that can be done on the screen in the dash, or on a computer?

You can do it 2 ways,

1: On a PC or MAC, put the disc in the dvd drive and then search the directory structure of the DVD.

2: Make an image of the disc using something like imgburn, the open the image file (.iso) and then search directory structure with something like UltraIso.

Then drag 'n' drop the file to you desktop and open with a text editor.

Eng.lsc should be in a dir under something like

Euro High
/TPD/nccBeuFNM_eu_20070302/ENG

Euro Pro
/tpd/ntcBeu_eu_20060913/ENG

NA Pro
/tpd/ntcBusa_na_20070102/ENG
