OK to Downrev from 4-1/71 to 4-1/70?

2005 X5 4.4i

I had an old Operating System CD V27 that had a cool startup pic on it. My X went into the dealer and they upgraded my NAV OS. I was up to 4-1/71.

I just stuck that cool V27 CD back in and changed my version down to 4-1/70 and now I have the cool X5World pic again. Have I broken anything by going down 1 rev (from 71 to 70)?

It might revert to Euro mode if you downgrade, why not upgrade to 4-1/91? Odd you dealer only went to 4-1/71 when thats at least a year out of date.

18 months ago, a friend of mine on this board sent me 4-1/70 OS disk with a cool X5 logo on it. Three months after that my dealer flashed it with 4-1/71 to give me an "upgrade" and it took away my cool start-up screen.

I have been running on that version for about a year and now I'd like to move back to the X5World logo versionl. I tossed it in; updated the OS, and found that it downrevved me to 4-1/70. I'm OK staying at 4-1/70 as long as:
1) It doesn't cause me any problems; and
2) I'm not missing out on some great feature by being on a version that's 18 months old.

Currently it seems to run fine. Any thoughts on #1 or #2?

Whether you use 7.0 or 7.1, you are still 2 x versions older than the current version of 9.1 (4-1/91)

You should upgrade to the newest version (v9.1) and then ask your friend to make the same splash screen version for v9.1

that way you get the latest bug fixes and features, and ability to use the latest map discs

Thanks for the suggestion, Jochen.

I am currently using the 2007.2 DVD with no problems. What bug fixes and features am I missing?

Don't know :-)

I assume, like any software, that the newer version is better then the old one
