changing splash on MKIV v29.1
I tried searching for this, but I can't seem to find what I am looking for.
I updated my MKIV Navi software to v29.1 and never messed with the splash screen. Now I would like to load a different splash screen other than the default, but I already have the latest upgrade. What do I have to do in order to do this? Cheers! -Peter:thumbup: |
Welcome to the forum,
Either downgrade to v28 and backup to v29 or mod the revision number of the update, both ways are here if you search, however. I use UltraIso, it will let you extract the navboot file from the v29.mds file and save back (the new image) to a v29.iso file (ready for cd burning) Install UltraIso, Then run UtraIso File, Open "v29.mds" Navigate to "V-2/RR/0101/BMWC01S/app_sw" in the now open image. Drag and drop the navboot out of the image onto desktop (or sub-dir) Open navtweak File, Open "navboot" Select the 2nd tab (images) For sky select romicons #8 and right click replace, (with your choice) For splash seletct rombitmaps #14 and right click replace, (with your choice) For 3d icons rombitmaps select rombitmaps (you get the idea) Then save the navboot (keep a copy of the original safe). Then drag and drop into the open UltraIso session (back where you found it, "V-2/RR/0101/BMWC01S/app_sw"). The nav unit doesn't allow it to "update" with the same software as already installed. So you have to fake the SoftwareVersion. do the following: also extract the 2 .tbl files from the directoy: <drive>:\V_2\RR\0101\BMWC01S Open it in an HEX editor (like Freeware, PSPad http://www.pspad.com/en/) In the first line you find: 30 39 31 30 This means: 0800 So: Software-Version 08.00 Just edit the last 30 to 31 and you nav unit will think it's a new Software Version and you can update your V29 without prior downgrade to V28 The next time you update, you can edit it back to 0800 then 0801 again... Save the UltraIso image as v29.iso, then burn a cd ad 1x speed. Thats it. |
oh you are my savior.. Thank you so much!

Sir ccfj1,
I tried to change the splash sreen and did all as discribed. The problem is : the new burned cd is not recognized by the car. Did I burn it the wrong extension? It s for a Range Rover L322 2003. I copyed a cd from a X5 because it has dutch language, but I can not find the 30 39 31 30 string to change the version, can that be the problem why the car doesnt recognise the cd ? regards |
a: what did you use to burn the cd
b: what speed did you burn at c: how did you "select" the image files (for burning). |

hey ccfj1,
I'm following unionjack's original guide Step Five Changing the language Navigate to V_2/Voices/0502 rename usa_f.csf to 1usa_f.csf rename gb_f.csf to usa_f.csf rename 1usa_f.csf to gb_f.csf and I wanted to change the voices to the british voice, but it seems the new v32 the folder V_2/Voices/0502 is now 0506... does that matter? |
No mate, just change 0502 to 0506

I just purchased TomTom's 2012 DVD maps along with a "custom" firmware
(V.32.2, shows 4-1/02 when in "screen" mode, for my '06 M3 with an MKIV. I purchased it from BMW MK4 NAVIGATION DVD DISC HIGH PROFESSIONAL IDRIVE ROAD MAP 2011 UPDATE, who advertised they would change the boot splash screen to 12 choices they have, along with adding the feature of "Red Light Traffic Cameras" and "Speed Traps". The only thing that worked was the splash change, which I know how to do myself. Long story short, what DVD map version do I need to buy to enable the "Camera On" function under "screen", which actually works and shows you a list of speed traps and stationary traffic cameras? I'm spending way too much time on this, and hope someone can help....thanks in advance. |

Second, which is it HIGH or IDRIVE?? it's one or the other. Quote:
"Camera on" is a hack that uses the language option from the set menu, since the USA uses many languages, then I did not make a version for the USA for release (I only made one for the UK, as we have the same 3 langs regardless of region). You will need to make one for the USA yourself, (please read the POSion thread on how to do this). If megaupload was still active (no longer thanks to the FBI), then I could have pointed you to a one I made for another US forum member. Quote:

I drive a 2006 E46 M3, with the "HIGH" version maps....
I did read the Posion thread, but saw no mention of making your own database of Stationary Traffic Cameras or Known Speed Traps for the NY area (Long Island specifically). I'll try to find another Poison post.... Thank you.. |
