Land Rover nav computer to BMW (MK3)?
Ive just purchased a MK3 Land Rover Nav computer to replace the defective one in my 2001 E46 330d with Monochrome radio navigation. The seller confirmed that it was removed from a monochrome equipped vehicle. Basically its not working, there is no nav menu on screen. Computer is powering up and powering down correctly with power light flashing before going off etc. I disconnected battery before fitment so everything 'spoke' to each other on start. Does this need a different software loaded to work on my vehicle or am I fighting a lost cause here? The seller has recomended this site, so thanks in advance for any help you can give.

A couple of things to do
If you use my NavCoder software you can test if the nav is alive by interrogating it, and also read the boot mode, which shows what the nav unit is currently programmed for
It will show you if it has Land Rover or BMW software loaded, and if the software is mono or colour My NavCoder software will also let you change the boot mode to BMW Colour or BMW Mono, but I have yet to test it on a land rover Mk3 - I may be able to test next week Regards, Jochen |
A Land Rover MKIII won't load the BMW software - ask me how I know. :( Or let's say, it won't do it by just changing the boot mode to BMWC01S. I've been some comparisons between the LR/RR OS disk and the BMW OS disk. I wonder if it can't be tricked into loading the software by swapping some of the files. My current problem is how to set the boot mode back to LROC01O so I can get it back to a working state to try a few things.
