What year X5 do you have? You can use the BMW Aux input kit for about $35 to get DVD in stereo, and you can also use the aux input on a Dice module or HD DICE to get DVD in stereo.

Don't know for an X3... hopefully someone will chime in and help you out.

I get DVD in stereo by using a BMW TV module and a HD DICE module and a DVD player I installed under the front seat. When I play the DVD video (on the nav screen), a button on the radio can be pressed to change audio to any audio input (DVD audio via aux, HD Radio, etc). This is a function of TVonNav.

i have the factory screen and nav unit as well as oem tv tuner......all i need to do is work out how to select another audio source while watching a DVD.......

Someone with an X3 must know the answer. I think you need the equivalent of a TVinMotion lead so you can select various sources while DVD is playing. I suggest you send a PM or email to Tom G. (european auto source - board sponsor) to see what he can suggest.

Do you have the OG or the NG radio?

Some German BMW forum members have built a kit to make the OG radio TV input a native stereo input

They sell it for a small fee

OG = old generation radio, as fitted to vehicles with production dates earlier than Sept 2001.

In the X3, there is no such animal - it's a CID Controller (Radio); there is no boot mounted tuner module (unfortunately) and the CID Radio isn't the same as the BM series tuners - these are made by Becker whilst the CID Radio is made by Philips (well, the two I had were).

Also single tuner which is a real PITA as TMC is only 'live' whilst tuned to a TMC station (Classic in the UK) or when listening to a non-tuner source.

Re. the OP's original query, I don't think you can select any source other than the AV Audio when AV is routed via the TV tuner ... but perhaps with the VERY latest CID Radio you can (though mine is April 2007).
