please please help OS on nav

hi, i am a new member and have a question or two.

firstly the background my car is an e38 2000 (i know this is an X5 forum but have been advised to ask for help here) fitted with mk111 nav unit OS showed 3 1/63 everything was ok untill i thought a freind in the know could upgrade my OS not realising that what i had was good enough, he accidently put in a dvd OS for mkiv. at first it would not eject the dvd, screen went blank no splash screen all though radio works finally it did, after waiting for 1/2 an hr with ign key out screen works but no splash screen and now the sat nav option does not appear in the menu and i assume without this i cannot upload any OS.

HAVE WE RUINED THE NAV UNIT ???? OR CAN SOMETHING BE DONE this will teach me to leave well enough alone and i went to him to buy a tv in motion cable!!! please please please  !ouch: HELP

Welcome to the forum, First off dont panic, whats happened is the your mate has used a mode 1 formattted OS disc, and the OS has corrupted the nav computer.

Download and burn a v29 image from this website, make sure that the image is mode 2 and burn at x1 speed on a good quality cd.

then go through the upgrade procedure,
go to car,
open door,
goto boot,
eject map disc,
turn ignition to stage 1,
goto boot and put OS disc in,
got to drivers seat and follow instructions,
do not turn off ign or close the door.

hopefully that should clear the corrupted OS

Good luck

P.S use imagburn to write the cd

P.S if you have any problems, let me know and I'll make you a disc image up :)
