Info

Thank you ccfj1.

Are there any other amendments to be made ?

ccfj1 11-28-2007 07:40 AM

Nope, just the normal ST and SF html files and same camera DB (as well as the pngs etc).

If you have any problems just PM me.

Galaxy 11-29-2007 02:28 PM

hi guys, whats with the secrecy? wouldn't it be better to post answers here rather than PM? save people asking same questions again and again, and to serve the purpose of a public forum giving advice and information.
(i do understand if its personal or sensitive info that is being shared)

Just a suggestion guys.

ccfj1 11-30-2007 04:13 AM

Hi galaxy,

Theres no secrecy mate, its just that It was easier to pm him the details than post them up here, I can post them up if any one else is interesed, I'll make a zip up with all the non-copyright stuff needed to make up a modded map disc.

I'll see if i can sort that out today and post here.

HTH

damci 11-30-2007 06:23 AM

just post it here :)

OK, 2008-1 UK and Euro template for adding Speed cameras.

Please note, there is a Euro Speed camera database made up from FREE Public domain websites that I have included, there are no copyright Databases in this zip file, this database is not complete, and is just the ones I could find free, if anyone wants to send me more, then do so, but they must be freely available and Public Domain.

So Let me repeat that statement THERE ARE NO COPYRIGHTED DATABASES IN THIS ZIP FILE, ALL THE DATABASE INFO WAS FREELY SOURCED, from Public Domain websites.

All the database files contain the SAME free EU data only, the UK database is not really a UK DB, it's the same (identical) as the EU data base and is there for reference only and will not show any UK cameras on the Nav display.

Here is a quick summary of what you need to do, I'll assume you know how to make (read and burn) an image of the map disc.

1) Make an ISO image of the 2008-1 DVD
2) IF IN THE UK; Download the Speed camera database in ASC form from Pocket GPS World, you need to subscribe to download, but it only costs £2 for a month's subscription or £19 for a year.
3) Find and download the following files into one folder: (use search).
a) POI Convertor
b) ASCI to IDX/URL Mk4 convertor
4) Run the POI convertor on the .ASC file from Pocket GPS world, save it as a TomTom ASCII (*.ASC) file. This changes the structure slightly.
5) Run the asc2idxurl_mk4.exe program from the command prompt in the folder you downloaded everything to, make sure that there is only one .ASC file, the one saved from the POI convertor.
Use the following command line :
high: asc2idxurl_mk4 ENG CAMERAS
or
Pro:asc2mk4_prof ENG UK 9001

If you download the zip just do this part.

Make an ISO image of the 2008-1 DVD
Open the 2008-1.ISO image with UltraIso or similar;

6) Modify the ISO image with these steps:
a) Add camera_splash.jpg to the "\TPD\Icons" folder
b) Add POI_CAMERA.PNG to the "\TPD\nccBeuFNM_eu_20070801\ICONS\RR" folder.
c) Add POI_CAMERA.PNG to the "\TPD\nccBeuFNM_eu_20070801\ICONS\NAVIOX" folder.
d) Modify your ENG.LSC with the amendments of "Modded-patch-ENG.LSC" then save in "\TPD\nccBeuFNM_eu_20070801\ENG" folder.
e) Add 0081.idx to the "\TPD\nccBeuFNM_eu_20070801\ENG\TABLES\0" folder. (this is for the UK entry only, note; no copyright data here, only free EU data)
f) Add 0082.url to the "\TPD\nccBeuFNM_eu_20070801\ENG\TABLES\0" folder. (this is for the UK entry only, note; no copyright data here, only free EU data)
g) Add 0083.idx to the "\TPD\nccBeuFNM_eu_20070801\ENG\TABLES\0" folder. (this is the EU part of the db, only free EU data)
h) Add 0084.url to the "\TPD\nccBeuFNM_eu_20070801\ENG\TABLES\0" folder. (this is the EU part of the db, only free EU data)
i) Add SF_CAMERASUK.HTM to the "\TPD\nccBeuFNM_eu_20070801\ENG\SE" folder.
j) Add ST_CAMERASUK.HTM to the "\TPD\nccBeuFNM_eu_20070801\ENG\SE" folder.
k) Add SF_CAMERASEU.HTM to the "\TPD\nccBeuFNM_eu_20070801\ENG\SE" folder.
l) Add ST_CAMERASEU.HTM to the "\TPD\nccBeuFNM_eu_20070801\ENG\SE" folder.
7) Burn you modified ISO image to a DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW or DVD+RW

You should now have SPEED CAMERAS UK and SPEED CAMERAS EU as a POI option from the "Info/info on location/car" main catagory.

Question

Is there a camera database ina single file that has all europe inclusive of UK ?

I believe it would make life easier to have one file. Not sure why we need to have EU and UK ?

Yes there is but not in the zip file, you would have to get hold of it yourself from pocketgps (or similar) and complie it yourself.

If you can find a free UK database then I could include it with all the free EU cameras in one file.

Quote:

Yes it would, and I did this for a while, then got a cease and dissist from pocketgps (copyright infringement), so I stopped.

Quote:

For our european neighbours who don't want the UK cameras as a POI.

The 2 POI's and datatbases are for showing you how to mod the map disc as an example only, mod to suit your needs.

I also have all UK ATM and Banks as POI's and I'm testing a 7 digit postcode search (as a POI).

Yes, you can use the 2007-2 DB, you may need to change the DB id, i think that the 2007-2 may have used 0079.idx and 0080.url, so either change the id tags (from 0079 to 0081 etc) or the listing in the eng.lsc.

Help

CCfj1,

You mention the following:

a) Add camera_splash.jpg to the "\TPD\Icons" folder

However, when we select speed cameras and search for icons
in a particular location, this "camera_splash.jpg" is not seen.

Please explain if other amendments are necessary to make this
camera_splash evident ?

Thanks

You have used the st and sf html files (from the zip) for using the search function yes? this is where the camera splash is seen.

Any text editor (txtpad, notepad) will be able to edit the eng.lsc file.

Quote:

Thats because word formats the document to be read by word. don't use any editors that do auto text formating.

Follow the step by step instructions on page 1 post 8,

Are you using english as the nav language? if you are using another language, like GER or FRE, then edit the ger.lsc or fre.lsc, and put the files in the correct dirs (ger or fre, not eng).

Once the image is burned to a blank dvd, the select the poi via the info /info by location/ car / the Cameras eu (or similar).

HTH

If you still have trouble pm me.

Dieter09 02-29-2008 04:08 PM

I am using NL (dutch) as NAV language, however, the information
part is in english.

I burned my dvd this afternoon and tested it.
In information => Car => i had "speed cameras UK and EU"
but when i entered it I saw nothing.

You are supposed to see the search message where you can enter the km range and so on..

I tested it with other POI's, like hospitals or casino, And there to i didn see anything.

I think the problem is because i edited the LSC file with word.?? Correct?

I will now edit it with text pad and try again. Thank you very much

I still have problem :)

So, i go to info => car => speed cameras EU

I then search by site, and for KM range i fill in "ANY" and then do search.
I get around 100 cameras, but how do i can see them on my nav screen, like in the link I posted above.

The only thing I can do is select the speed cam as navigation target.

How do I get POI's on my screen?

E5M1R 03-02-2008 02:17 AM

That is it, you just do a search then get out of the menu. Waat happens is that Navi will show icons for last sarched poi, so if you search for gasstation you will get those icons show, and so on

Dieter09 03-02-2008 02:40 PM

thank you!

1) Make an ISO image of the 2008-1 DVD

2008 DVD

Thanks, but the 2008 stuff is just a bunch of icons. I was hoping for the data, maybe from someone with a recently purchased car who wants to share .. ?

...ASH... 04-07-2008 01:52 AM

I have just done as mentioned above but I have put the disk into my nav and it does not show the speed cameras up (do I have to switch it on or something)

I have followed all nstructions as above..

THanks in advance

E5M1R 04-07-2008 02:07 AM

Yo have to go into the poi menu and do a search for cameras, When done, just exit the menu do not navigate to one.
Now the car wil show icons of the speed cams

...ASH... 04-07-2008 02:09 AM

I think I know where I made the mistake...

I have replaced the ENG.LSC with the mod one and not modified it with the text...

I just can't get my head around it.. Has someone got the modified version so I can just put the text file into the iso?

Thanks in advance

does anyone know if I can download it anywhere (for a trial use of corse)

You are the only one promoting it here so i figured maybe you had something to do with it, guess i was wrong

pleply 04-10-2008 03:08 PM

i made the dvd, and burn it, now i can see the camera's in the poi menu but he is find nothing ? what do i wrong

E5M1R 04-10-2008 03:19 PM

your idx and url file are wrong or not present

pleply 04-10-2008 03:32 PM

i have the 0081 to 0084 from the zip file they must be ok ?

E5M1R 04-11-2008 04:49 AM

So you used the file posted on the first page....
I suppose that you folowed directions all the way, and the links are correct, and files placed in right catalouges. If all that is OK then when you go into the poi menu and do a search for cameras, some of them should pop up on the search menu, then just exit.
The reason you are doing this is becouse the car wil show the icon for last searched poi, whitch in this case would be the speedcameras.
Please note that the files posted are free and may not be complete, so if you cant se camera in your area, it just might be that the database posted is not that good.

...ASH... 04-11-2008 12:58 PM

I can't even see the POI menu

Can anyone give me any ideas??

Thanks in advance

Last year I spend ages trying to modify my 2007-2 high disc the manual way and eventually after many failures I succeeded! This year I just cant be bothered!

Ash - my advice to you is to do as I have just done this week - pay less than £25 for the very excellent pimp-my-nav program modify the disc with as many of the free downloadable POI's from pocketgpsworld as you like and if necessary pay a couple of quid for their latest speed camera database. Save the amended file and burn just the ONE disc and revel in your achievements in just an hour or so:thumbup:

I am in no way connected with the talented creator of pimp-my-nav but credit where due it really makes the job easy. Now based on your previous posts my guess is you haven't forked out 200 quid for a map disc so maybe you can put you hand in your pockets for this one!

I'm not a great one for spending cash if I can do it myself and this is not the first time I considered the program - I only wished I hadn't been such a tight ar$e last year:rofl:

Hi there - did you have to buy UltraISO in addition to this software for your DVD navigation or did it work ok ? I've just paid for it.......and now noticed tha I might need to buy something else also....which is rather annoying. I've downloaded another of its pre-requisites - the Imageburner - (free).......shame he/she doesnt bundle the whole thing together in one app.......so you know there's nothing more to pay for......

Yes the procedure is the same, but the 2009-1 and 2009-2 disc are not exactly the same, there is some renumbering of the idx and url files, so don't just copy the working ITA.LSC (ENG.LSC in my case) from the 2009-1 to the 2009-2.

But I've done this and its the same procedure.

The top end .idx/.url numbers.

Open the ita.lsc files for both discs and you will see the differences, thankfully its only the .idx/.url files, pretty much everything else is the same.

Thanks a lot for your helpful tips.

I had a look at both files. The one that is ok with 2009-1 was edited with pimp-my-nav (not by me). I compared this file with the new one taken from 2009-2 and I realized where the differencies are as follows:
1. new category-id in group-id 2 (22 - 12 - 32)
2. new TPD-GRP (12 - 22 - 32)
3. new TPD CAT (12: 13 TO 15. 22: 23 TO 30 and 32: 33 to 39)
4. new data in ICONSDSC <category id> data tree for above mentioned items
5. new data in TPD-SEA <cat id> <search form file>
6. new data in TPD-SEARCH-ENGINE-VARIABLES etc

Said that, I am going to cut and paste and save a new lsc file in text format. I have just two point to clear:

- how do I fix discrepancies between .IDX/.URL files. I mean, some of the numbers that I would need are already in use in the new file. Example: in new file 0083 and 0084 are used for "college" but in the old one they are used for fixed cameras. How can I fix it? Just rename "college" or what..

- once I have the lsc file that makes me happy...how do I put my own POIs into the dbase?

Thanks for any help. (as tou can see I am improving..am I?? :D)

rename 0083 and 0084 (and the sf+st files, plus the ita.lsc), I renamed mine to 1083 and 1084 (just to keep it easy).

Always keep the OEM stuff the same, change your edits, that way you don't break the OEM stuff.

Indeed you are my friend, comming on a treat.

You need the db files, say kfc.csv, then use a poi converter to make the kfc.url and kfc.idx files, then make new sf+st html files, then add to disc image.

POIplaza - Free POI databases for almost every navigation system

SF+ST files are in the same dir (SE dir) and you must have both for the POIs to work.

Copy some already made ones and edit them for your needs.

vince59it 07-30-2009 05:10 AM

hallo,

I did everything as suggested and I will have the "field test" tomorrow..hope it'll work.

So far it seems to me that after all the modding to the .LSC file the ONLY thing to keep the map updated is to update .IDX and .URL files for the relevant POIs. (download POI->change them to asc format->make new IDX/URl file and put them into the image).
Am I correct?
Thanks

Thanks

Correct, once the donkey work has been done, then as you say only update the IDX/URl files.

Hallo, here I am with a new question:
Following an extract from my ITA.LSC file. It works good but it seems having problem with displaying one category of POI. When I select:
- all cameras, I see displayed fixed and movable cameras with associated icon;
- fixed cameras, I see displayed fixed cameras with its associated icon;
- movable camera I DO NOT see the icon.

ICONDSC 24 G508-G524-S037/ICONS/NAVI0X/POI_AUTOVELOX_FISSI.PNG+G539-I0+G523-I2+G522-I1+G521-I2!
ICONDSC 24 G508-G524-S033/ICONS/RR/POI_AUTOVELOX_FISSI.PNG+G539-I0+G523-I2+G522-I1+G521-I2!

Can someone tell me what is the underlined text? I guess it "means" something to the software but what exactly? position of the text?...Thanks

It does mean something mate, S033, is the number of characters that compose the location of the png file.

eg:
1234567890123456789012345678901234567890 (= 40)
/ICONS/NAVI0X/POI_AUTOVELOX_FISSI.PNG (== 37)

So this number should be S037

1234567890123456789012345678901234567890 (= 40)
/ICONS/RR/POI_AUTOVELOX_FISSI.PNG (== 33)

and this number should be S033

Looking at the links in the highlighted italic text the O (cap o in NAVI0X) looks like it may be a 0 (zero), not a real cap O.
