Enabling Traffic TMC in Sat Nav
 

I live in Australia and we have only JUST had the first live TMC service launched and currently available free for limited time.

I have the Sat Nav pro on my Z4 but I can't seem to be able to find TMC anywhere (I have V28 of the Nav firmware). Pressing the Info button only shows "RDS" . "PTY" and "Min Nav volume" . There is no "TP" as suggested by the BMW manual to turn on the TMC.

I suspect that this may be due to our Maps here not supporting it?

Frustrating to see the AU$5700 system have YET another limitation!

Is there a way to mod the disc to make TMC available, or do we need to await BMW Australia to release an enabled Map disc (more chance to see a pig fly in the near future)?

Change your radio mode from Oceania to Europe. Then TMC will appear.

To do this go into radio service mode and scroll through the options until you see OCE or OCEANIA. Change to Europe.

However, you also need the TMC database on the map disc - do you have that? I doubt it.... Without the TMC database, the nav doesn't know the lat/long of each TMC location ID. The TMC database has to be issued by BMW (well - by the mapmaker...)

How do I get into the Radio Service Mode though?
And what does the TMC database file on the Caridb disc look like to see if it is there?

TMC database is built into the CarinDB file.

Radio service mode:
Turn radio on
Within 10s, press and hold SELECT and wait
Service mode appears
Scroll through menus with < and > buttons
Change settings with station preset 1...6 buttons, or + and - buttons
