TV Tuner retrofit issue

Hi everyone,
Retrofitted a tv tuner today and when I turn the ignition on the nav screen is just blank. It then goes a lilttle crazy with lines jumping all over the screen. Can't get any menu's up. The screen just keeps jumping with lines all over it. The tuner I picked up is a phillips tuner and I am not sure if this is not compatible with my 2004 screen. I think the tuner is 4:3. Can someone please shed some light on this for me. Bought my tuner harness from Bimmernav and the tuner from ebay. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If it's a Philips tuner then it will be a very early 4:3 model. Lowe is possibly 4:3 or 16:9 and Lear tuners are the latest which will do both and some are Hybrid digital and analogue.

The 4:3 tuners will usually kind of work, but being an early tuner may not be at all compatible with Mk4 Navis. Have you tried unplugging the blue connector on the Nav and seeing if you get the basic 'tuner only' menu? If not, then it could be a faulty tuner?

Hi, Thanks for your reply. I will give that a go and see if it works.
