Code Request - Please Help
 

Hey Guys,

Just wondering if anyone has experienced this.

When i plug the X5 into NavCoder and make some simple setting changes all is fine, however.

Once i have finished playing, pull the key out and try and start the car Code _ _ _ _ comes up on the monitor and instrument cluster.

Its the same on you get when you actually turn on the code, problem is it happens every time i make any change and i have no idea what the code is.

I have entered all the standard codes you know 0000,9999 and the like..

The only way i can get around it is to disconnect the battery and then wait 10 mins before the emergency code count down works.

I noticed 1 other posts on here, sounds like the same thing.

Has any one else experienced this? or know what a work around is.

Its a pain in the Ar5e, having to keep disconnecting the battery.

It's one of those strange things that happens to other people but never to me :-)

I believe it is a data message clash on the databus but I have never found the root cause of the issue

Some cars seem more susceptable to this problem than others

So at this stage i can only suggest doing what you do - and also being conscious not to overload the data bus by doing too many things at the same time.

I always, for example, make sure that the radio is turned off and that the ign key is in Pos1 (not Pos2) when programming anything with NavCoder. Turning off the radio reduces the data traffic immemensly, turning off the ign to only Pos1 reduces it even more.

I had such situation one time when I was playing with NavCoder (I recoded my friend's MK3 on my car. My friend always use Code function in his car. I thought that may be some information wrote in nav unit memory and that's why I had such situation when I pluged his nav unit in my car in). Anyway, unfortunately the way to fix it - unplug buttery and wait 10 min...

I had the same situation in an E53. It was some error message after coding VIN and vehicle type in navcoder, then CODE request appeared. Then I turned off the ignition, turned on, coded again the VIN and the CODE request disappeared.
I have one more strange thing while coding an E39. After coding the TV-in -motion, the red cross beside the right turning knob on the 16:9 display lights on (normally it lights/blinks when the aux heat/vent is in progress). Any experience?

Hmmm, sounds the same as mine, when it all first started i coded the Vin and Make to the Nav unit.

When my system was showing Code _ _ _ _ the little red fan (next to the knob) was flashing also.

Very strange. So to stop it should i try and recode my VIN to the nav unit? Will that stop the code thing?
